Freenet is of course an approach to peer to peer file sharing that tries to address these scalability issues. Shame the article
doesn't mention it.
Flamebait?
I can think of some djs that need this!

boy oh boy are there some djs out there who could learn from this - the ones who are so into what they're playing that they don't notice that they are the only ones...
Oh, I can really see NASA giving the russian space program plenty of free promotion. Just wait till the site goes down every time something good happens, and marvel at their connectivity and bandwidth when disaster strikes.
I'm sure there must be plenty of charities who would love to be able to take credit card donations online, but who don't have the resources to set this up.
Maybe we need a central charity collection site, where you can donate to the charity of your choice!
Does anyone know of any charities that are taking donations online already? It sure isn't as personal as door-to-door collection, but it might be easier to get the bigger donations...
As a windsurfer, finding more wind is always the problem. One of my local beaches suposedly has a slightly stronger sea breeze because of all the car parks near it.
I've got no idea if it really does anything, but when every knot counts, i'd like to believe it.
All the government really cares about is its total tax income. It really is irrelvant where each tax dollar comes from.
As more commerce moves to the internet, the government will have to make up the shortfall. It can do this two ways.
Raise income tax, sales tax etc.
Find a way to effectively tax ecommerce.
The first way is going to be unpopular with the majority of the population who don't really care about the net. Seeing as the money has to come from somewhere, the government has to chase ecommerce, in case it erodes other income streams to the point where they can't make up the shortfall.
There is no such thing as a free lunch - the idealogy of freedom of the internet clearly has no place once you're making a buck.
What's so hard about this? You know exactly where the thing you are looking for is, so what's the challenge in finding it?
Something along the lines of "60 feet north of the third twisted elm to the south of the castle's shadow at sunset" would be much more fun!
I went to the page, and my mouse changed into the "waiting" symbol and stayed that way?
I guess it's just javascript making it look like you've been slashdotted!
I'd think affording the $1000 computer would be the problem - a free OS would be nice, but without a computer it's not much good!
Offtopic?
You americans really don't get sarcasm/irony, do you.
Maybe it could be a checkbox in preferences "I understand sarcasm and will moderate accordingly".

So that's where Java comes from...
If apple needed to guard the G4 with tanks, then this thing must explain why the star wars missile system is being revamped - to protect it!
Oh the agony - having to decide which to do first - post a comment on slashdot or download the source!
Anyone who knows anything about lego knows you can get flat topped blocks - i'm sure they had lego chairs in mind when they designed them!
I'm sure that a Male Sheep is the only RAM we'll be hearing about in the future.
The # symbol is used in music notation as the "sharp" symbol which denotes that a note is a semi-tone higher.
i.e. C# is a semitone higher than C - I'm sure that's the meaning they were intending, since C+++ would have looked pretty stupid!
I'm sure it's all just a ploy to get some French developers developing with nationalist pride!

As if we couldn't just take Intel's word for it!
The bank saves by having more customers using it's online services, and just offers its name to give credibility to the product.
Anyone with a backyard can build a manned space rocks. I know it's true, /. told me!
Someone definately missed the April 1st release date on this story...
I knew Iridium would turn out alright!
If the price point is really correct, then I can think of one piece of junk that i'd like to see fall out of orbit... did anyone say "star wars"?

Search engines spider your site and you get more traffic (and maybe more money).
Bidder's Edge spiders your site and you get less traffic (and maybe less money). See the difference?
So will everyone please stop suggesting that this applies to search engines!
