Yep, same system I'm using. This is how you do it and not waste time.

I could be wrong, but I believe the reasoning for this is so if a hash check fails with any one particular file, the server can send down the original one so that the player can still join the server, instead of kicking the player back to the main menu.

It's not very satisfying to pay $50-60 for a game, only to have constant crashes, graphical issues, NO patches, buggy multiplayer, etc and so on, especially when you might finally have a computer that works better than the minimum requirements (and cost impossibly little). Let's not forget how you are treated like a criminal if you decide to try and return your opened software (NO REFUNDS KTHX)

As scary as programs like this are (and they are scary) we need to start thinking about when, not if, these kinds of things happen. At least I can see a giant transmitter strapped to my ankle. In 10 years it will be possible to pick up a box of microscopic RFID tags for relatively little cost. In 20 years it will probably be possible to create microscopic GPS systems that radio back their location. We know someone, somewhere will develope and sell this or similar technology and we need to know how we are going to answer back. Lobby congress to allow jaming technology? Doubtful that will happen. Create scanners so we can atleast know when we are being tracked? More likely, but only a partial solution. Hopefully someone smarter than me can think of a solution to what I think is an inevitable problem. Microscopic Flyswatters.

Nice, if I had a mod points I would give one to you. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/5/9/ is very funny ... still laughing

The DRM still only allows three total installs for the lifetime of the game How is this better then constant validation? So if I install it on my Desktop, Laptop and maybe at work ... I would only play it on one computer at a time. Now if one of the machines crashes, I am thinking about my Gaming (win XP) Desktop here, it has become unstable and needs a reload soon .... I would have to beg to get one more install.... keep your game! No. Shut up. You can uninstall the game and get one of your three installs back. Flight Simulator X had a TWO install limit, and after the first time I went over that limit (not knowing about the whole uninstall to get a install back issue), they were more than happy to help me out, no begging needed. Please stop being an idiot, and support the developers for once instead of pressing your unrealistic needs on game companies. This goes with anyone below who agrees with the parent, as well.
