In this country too many things that are not serious are midemeanors or felonies. We need new classifications for these crimes. 'Fellony' just doesn't convey enough information. Most crimes fall in a very narrow spectrum of offenses. Violence, Theft, Fraud, negligence. I think for violent crimes, you are up the creek, very few businesses would take a chance on that. Depending on the business, Theft, Fraud and negligence could be ignored. Of course, this is my utopian view of how it should be. In the US unfortunately, a conviction is like a permanent stamp.

Using your logic we just leave the uncontrolled growth of this kind of spending go on indefinitely for the good of the country. I am sorry but a gradual approach would work. I don't understand why most techie people are blatantly against software patents. Sure, we can all be against ridiculously obvious patents that should not have been granted but why is software considered different than plastic for example? I can make a better mouse trap using bits of plastic and patent my newly designed mouse trap. Computer instructions are not different than bits of plastic that when strung together produce a working product. I think truly novel computer software should be patentable otherwise we diminish the value of a whole industry of people who use a lot of brain power to come up with this software.

You have to be sure of your purchase as you will most likely be using this car for at least 3 years. So, yes, although the idea of an apple store for cars sounds good, how do you do that when your product line has 10+ models and you need to have samples for test drives for people who just walk in? Although we can berate car dealers for their litany of offenses against consumers, their sales paradigm is what it is because it has evolved to service the american consumer.
