  1. Stole this idea from Star Trek on Why a Cure For Cancer Is So Elusive · · Score: 1

Why can't we take a DNA sample from ourselves when we are say, 25 years old? Then at any time in our life, use a virus to infect ourselves with our younger DNA? Wouldn't that correct all the accumulated damage effectively reversing some of the aging and also curing any DNA-related illnesses?

  2. It will definitely help deter crime on Is the World Ready For Facial Recognition On Google Glass? · · Score: 1

Especially if there is a 'panic' feature built in. If you are about to be the victim of a crime, you trigger the 'panic' and everything starts being recorded/offloaded to the cloud, including names of offenders, etc. I really like this feature. Of course, it could be taken to extremes, guy cuts you off on the interstate? You have a little road-rage? Get his name, address, etc and go ape shit on him or his property. The possibilities for good & evil are endless. It will depend on what we as a society decide to do with this tech.

  6. the only insurance anyone needs is catastrophic on How Big Data Is Destroying the US Healthcare System · · Score: 1

There should be no 'caveats' in the policy. You should be able to buy a dollar amount coverage, period. And, there should be a mandated minimum which should be adjusted annually to reflect current hospitalization costs for the most prevalent catastrophic events. Heart attack, cancer, Severe trauma. For most people, regular doctor visits won't bankrupt them. Insurance is meant to protect against events where your normal resources would be depleted if you had to use them to resolve the issue. I should be able to buy $500K 'Hospital bill' insurance. Regardless of any preexisting conditions. Realistically, this whole health care business needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch. The obamacare 'bundling' of features in the insurance policies reminds me of the cable tv bundling. We don't like that in that business, we do we like it in the insurance business?

Will the automated cars obey the posted speed limits? That would be horrible as the whole city where I live has 25mph limits posted everywhere. No one obeys them except the occasional freak. If you drive at the posted limit it will take forever to cross town, it would make commuting not practical.

Sorry, but the polluter could be dealt differently. If the polluter's neighbors that are affected by the pollutants could band together and sue him in civil court for polluting then that should take care of the problem. What is the EPA doing that the individuals could not accomplish themselves? The government is still involved in the resolution of the pollution issue but not by instituting many laws and adding bureaucracy and expense for everyone but being the arbitrator through the use of the courts. The reasons that this wasn't done previously are not clear to me, I can only guess at a few reasons.

The gate itself was sealed. To enter the gate they had some security staff with airline garb on. They asked simple questions. The cliche ones like 'did you pack your bags yourself', etc. BUT, I noticed that they were intently watching my facial and body language during this brief conversation. To me they looked like well trained security professionals. I am sure if I showed any suspicious signs I may have been searched further. I did not notice that from a planeful of 300 passengers, they patted down or used the hand-held wand on a handful of people. The net effect of all this? The whole check-in & security line was 10 minutes. I did get to airport 2.5 hours ahead of time. I certainly did not have to do so. We need to return to this. Our current process is so wasteful.
