We may have gyroscopic trains as broad as houses swinging at 200 miles an hour up steep grades and around dizzying curves This just shows how far we have come. Dan Quayle once said "The future will be better tomorrow." These days nobody would take the train idea seriously. Now the goal is teleportation.
I see little reason for so many distros, each with their own separate-but-equal repos, to exist in the first place. So many distros because people decided that they like certain packages to be installed and configured a certain way every time.
So many repos because a binary is much faster to install compiling from source. Since a single binary cannot work on every distro, each distro must maintain it's own repositories. What do you want? A repo of source code? I believe that is what Gentoo does, and much of the code is compiled locally (although I think that there are at least some binaries).
Why does everybody feel the need to report myminicity links? Aren't they obvious enough? They are all vague one-liners that refer to a link to that will supposedly illustrate the poster's point (and are often AC). Same goes for goatse.ca links. Trolls can't make them much longer without making some sort of statement relevant to the story.
Probably had something to do with the "Walmart shoppers are idiots" part. What do you expect? These machines were put in an oversized case because marketing decided shoppers would think size=power.
- get rid of all those duplicate halfbaked projects and put all the effort into a single set of office software. There lies both the greatest weakness and greatest strength of FOSS: There is no final authority controlling it. There is nobody who has the authority to say "We need to stop duplicating effort and merge all these projects." But at the same time, if some projects lose sight of the goal (Novell/Gnome/etc), people are free to switch to another.
3.5) Get even more amazed when you notice that chairs in the company (including Darryl's after a considerable bid war) were bought by the same bidder and they are now being shipped to Redmond, WA.
it's not exactly teeming with criminals Maybe not criminals, but millions of gallons of unprotected oil could attract quite a number of terrorists wishing to cause an ecological disaster. OK, so Islamic terrorists don't have many problems with Norway (that I know of), but they could decide that it would be better for their cause if the Middle East were the sole source of oil in the world.
To help identify troll links of course. If you don't like them, you can turn them off in Preferences>>Comments. Second to the bottom is an option to turn them off ("Display Link Domains?")
That wouldn't happen to be a pun, now would it?
63.27% of statistics are made up on the spot.
The chart occasionally shows Firefox having more hits than IE. Maybe those months had more /. articles pointing to PC World's website?

One doesn't need to look at the manual. Use the button and see what happens.
They upgrade slower.
Netcraft confirms it.

I sense a new meme in the works...

Granted, but it still only transmits a simple timestamp, as opposed to streaming a song.
4. functional network/internet connection.
5. Power outlet(s)
Why not? Ping (which is all GPS really is) came before multimedia streaming on the Internet.
Or flash, for that matter.
...Microsoft recently acquired the copyright on monopolies and is demanding royalty payments.
Exactly what I was thinking.
So I call dibs on the copyrights for dairies, corn farming, and near year-round sun.

I thought that was already illegal.
