What is the use of a transparent airplane if a bunch of terrorists can get it to go down just by asking it riddles?

  4. Strong AI? Analog circuits rock! on Memristor Based RAM Could Be Out By 2009 · · Score: 1

Hello! 75 comments in already and no one mentions the most interesting part about this article. Analog circuits that learn, in five years!!!! Am I missing something? Isn't this huge for AI research? I'm serious. I am a layman but, this brings to my mind many additional benefits than "instant on" computers. How about computers that think and learn like we do? Also, an analog memristor could hold more than two values. Wouldn't this mean HUGE memory densities would be available? Are these ideas ridiculous or is the singularity even closer?

I would love to see the sales figures for both formats plotted on an exponential graph. Does anyone know where I could find this information in this form? Maybe it could provide additional insight. (a la Ray Kurzweil) http://www.kurzweilai.net/articles/art0134.html?pr intable=1

  10. Of course they bought beta software on Google Purchases GrandCentral Web Phone Service · · Score: 2, Interesting

I have been using Grand Central for a while and I have been dreaming about this. Google and Grand Central seem like a good match...as long as they stop taking away functionality and start adding more (like gmail voice mail integration). It didn't bother me to much when they started announcing to my callers that I was recording their call (I was expecting it) but taking away my custom mp3 rings. For shame. Seriously though, I enjoy the features in Grand Central so much I was actually considering paying for them when they went out of beta. Now that Google bought them though..Beta Forever Baby!!

  12. Respond in kind? on Linus Responds To Microsoft Patent Claims · · Score: 1

IANAL, but couldn't companies with a vested interest in FOSS sue Microsoft for libel? Could this force Microsoft to disclose the allegedly infringed upon patents? Any lawyers in the house?
