Sorry, but I think you are a bit optimistic here. I recommend that you have a look at some of the videos of people on youtube that boot xp on ramdrives. You should also notice another great lag. Hint: the time spent from pushing the power button to booting the OS. http://linuxbios.org/ could fix this.
Can you, or this blogger, or anyone, site some actual evidence that shows what the fuck "optimized" even means? CFLAGS="-09 -march=s6000 -pipe=65536 -funroll-every-loop -mrice -mabi=rice -omg-optimized --disable-all-instructions -DREENABLE_FAST_EXECUTION"
That's why Karl Marx was either an idiot or an evil person because he recommended violence as normal standard procedure.
Or more likely, you are the idiot. He did not recommend violence as normal procedure. He made a theory stating something along the lines that any thesis would have a antithesis. And these would form a synthesis, which would have its own antithesis.
Way to go describing philosophical activities as warmongering. Karl Marx thought that a change would come through violence because it was most likely.
Apps that use little hard disk space or have a small memory footprint is fine and all, but does it really matter? Sure this is great for older systems, but I have a fairly new system so that these criteria are not an issue. I haven't used any of the swap space ever. I think usability is much more important than how much ram it uses.
Chances are that you are just ignorant, but we have formal standards for a reason. Not following the standard sounds very much like their famous EEE strategy. Something I think most of us don't want at all. So I am actually quite happy with this because it is M$ that should fix this.
I call BS on your post. The Scandinavian countries is a clear example of how wrong your post is. The fact that Norway has the highest human development index suggests that government control has positive sides as well.
So instead of talking straight out of your ass while praising what you think work best, you should instead shut up and think a bit. Newsflash: The World is not just black and white! Who would have guessed?
Doing said dirty work could be risky. Termination based on loose accusations might end up in lawsuits. Somehow I got the feeling that they don't want any of those.
As if that matters. They are violating the will of big corporations! Accordance with the law is for small people.
Wine 1.0 would be a great mistake!

Wine 0.9.44 Released

At least at the moment. It would be like marking a half-built car (WARNING! car-analogy) as ready for use. I think it would be pointless to push such a product because it is simply not ready yet. Users would also have higher expectations of the product than what should be realistic. That said, Wine has come a long way. Playing opengl games works great. The same can't be said for directx. Some installers does not function at all. And there is a lot of other issues as well. Wine 9.64 seems more realistic than wine 1.0 at the moment.
I really don't get this. If I tell Ubuntu during the install process that I reside in a country where such codecs are not illegal, why does it need to bother me with legalese that does not apply to me? (I know, US based.) I would not mind if they made an "international" edition, although I guess it would only confuse some people.
I'm thinking evolution. Distros that have what it takes will be the preferred choice. Those who don't fall behind. And some never make it because there are better options already. Ubuntu came out of nowhere, (blablabla, debian, etc) yet it is one of the most popular Linux distros there is today.
A carrier needs to support a phone so they can get "ur moniez". And you don't just buy a phone, you get an upgraded one! With all sorts of fancy features the carrier put on it.
Why stills so expensive? well, you might have noticed that there is not some intergalactic entity that pulls panels out of it's ass.
But seriously, the annual price reduction on solar panels are some 5% so you'll get there at some point. However, the market for panels is artificial. The demand is much higher that it should be because the panels are subsided in some markets such as South-Korea. And I can imagine that the requirements for the materials are high as well.
Wait, Windows Cosmetic-upgrade-4-all-ur-$$$(TM) actually didn't sell like crazy? how can this be?
But seriously, Vista looks shiny and all, yet it could not possibly reflect the memory requirements for it (It probably does, but it's like the division by zero jokes)
I don't know if it is enforceable or not (IANAL) but here goes:
How can it be that a license that 1) MS has and never will agree to 2) that didn't exist when the deal was made be valid?
M$ does not have to agree, neither does Novell. However if Novell wants to distribute GPL3 code, then this affects M$ through their agreement.
If I write a program and license it under the condition that you pay me £10 for it, can I then change the license a week later and say you have to pay 10 people £10 instead?
You could change the license, but you can't really say that I have to pay 10 other people £10 unless said 10 other people have a legitimate claim for that money (IP rights etc.)
If a law banning something is instated by the Government, they are very rarely retrospective (how can you comply with something that does not exist yet?).
The thing is that this is not retrospective, the M$-Novell deal is still a fact. The GPL3 says that such agreements are not allowed in the future (modified truth)
Either I'm missing something, or the GPL 3 is going to be totally unenforceable.
Well guess what. I use water cooling because of noise issues. now if only I could get my psu water cooled as well (I know about the more expensive models. yet those are outside my price range.)
How long before whistling a tune as you walk down the street will get you arrested?
Seriously, if you (as in all of us really) let that happen, then you deserve it.

haven't rtfa yet, but most things are hilarious when read out loud, in a fruity "posh" voice.
Next on /.! DIY positronium laser using household items.
Clearly optimized!
I think I got the joke in there.
Trolls, however, have a different meaning in Norway. (not the internet kind of trolls)
1. Get documentation 2. Write driver 3. ??? 4. PROFIT!!!

You are correct. Norway is a special case, but how about Sweden and Iceland? They don't have oil at all. How do you explain them?

Dsplayport 1.1 supports HDCP. kind of sucks, but Displayport>HDMI

Turning the patent protection agreement into a benefit for the community is nice and all, but I was really hoping for a big "GTFO Novell". Oh well...
It looks decent enough: http://www.turbolinux.com/products/wizpy/
