Right now we have banks sitting on cash (the Fed is paying them interest on reserves!), and they do not want to lend do to the issues you have cited. The House wants the Fed to act and Fed wants the House to act. The Fed's weapons are weak and the House IS weak. Add to this new taxes and regulation and We Have A Problem. Are they getting taxed on the income from the interest the Fed is paying the banks right now? IDK, does anyone else know anything more about this?

Wake up and smell the karma asshole! Shit is slowly hitting the fan around here and you still don't get it. Yeah, you will get tired and whiny about "politics" and retreat back into your steam account while the world continues to boil over. We debate things and form a view of the world from these conversations and then hopefully we act on that view, and hopefully we have the courage to change that view if new information makes it invalid. I don't like trying to save the world either, but FUCK, I just want to have a nice happy life, vacation, goof off, and learn, but these assholes won't let me. Something must be done, and it starts with bitching on /.

Yes, but business and finance is the engine which allowed the creation of all this wealth, which of course pays the taxes. You have to be seriously numb or just plain ignorant to deny this. I know that the workers are responsible for the generation of the majority of the wealth in a physical sense, and they deserve to be treated fairly, and upper management fails at this in many orgs. So one can argue the people built it all, and I would agree, but certainly NOT the government. It is just preposterous--whatever that word means.

Dude, I don't know what you're talking about. IE9 is trashed and locks up constantly. In our IT department you often hear a mouse slam on a desk with some expletive because someone is trying to access Microsoft's website with IE9. I'm in Chrome constantly and never have a problem and I browse way outside the normal average of 7 websites per day. In fact I'm always testing new web-apps and using bleeding edge tools and libraries and still never have a problem. Firefox can be a little quirky but still better than IE.

We need to proceed with this blitzkrieg of updates as long as it is tolerated. I know it sucks but we have serious momentum and a plethora of stuff yet to be done. It will probably settle down in ten years or so. Improved security, improved JavaScript, improved CSS, improved HTML, and the list goes on. I don't know if you noticed, but building serious web apps is just now becoming possible and this arduous march needs to continue to get things right. Web development is starting to become a sane and enjoyable profession because of this constant improvement, and the browsers have to be updated to make this possible.
