With all the shit going on in the world we have significant resources running around protecting private company IP because they failed to do it themselves. If my IP was stolen I would be laughed out of the AG office and told to pound sand on my way out.

Protests are useless unless the protesters are organized and equipped to inflict violence and destruction. That is your litmus test. If you are not willing to go down fighting and pay with your life then your stupid little beef is meaningless. So go ahead and gather outside the ivory tower and peacfully chant demands while the masters look down on you from safety and roll their eyes.

...but you are fighting an uphill battle when most IT managers think open source software is less secure because people can see the code. They think obscurity is the bedrock of security and constantly seek it. They also cite that anyone can commit code to the project...making is rife with back-doors. These dinosaurs smack down open source anything, left and right. A lot of times the only way to introduce new, modern technology is to politically outmaneuver them.

I like having the conversation with them about how Microsoft is fully embracing open source in everything they do and how their darling .NET platform is now open sourced. Complete cognitive dissonance ensues.

  19. Nope. People in trailer parks do not own or read books. They will watch youtube videos made by people who read those books though.

  20. YouTube is a sewer. As part of my research into a bunch of different areas/projects/etc I have encountered many videos offering instruction. Rarely, you will happen on a video in the search results that offers the correct advice and well-rounded information. Most of the time the search results are packed with videos giving bad advice that is prone to making the person's situation worse. The comments are always glaring in the affirmative with people heaping on praise for giving them totally wrong or incomplete information. Treating YouTube like a tutorial without gathering a lot more information from other sources is a great way to become an expert dumbass.
