There is ample proof of WOW working (somewhat) in WINE, so why not work with the Linux community?
Note that I am not asking for Linux "support" as that is much more expensive a proposition. Just a supported or acknowledged linux community...</quote>
Yeah. Chrome features FTW. I like Firefox too, but WebKit, separate tabs per process, and faster JavaScript engine are very nice features that makes Firefox looks outdated. I hope they catch up.
I was a id software fan, I liked id because they gave me the feeling that they care about Linux.
I also bought most of their games (Doom 3, Quake 4, etc.) for playing them on my Linux box, but after reading this they really disappointed me: http://www.linuxgames.com/archives/10532
I still like their games though, and I hope they port their upcoming games to Linux (id tech 5 / doom 4, etc). Otherwise I'm never buying their games again.
Works better, it doesn't have deadlocks, it's SIP stack is 100% RFC compliant, complete, all follow all the standards.
FreeSWITCH developers also don't re-invent the wheel every time they add something, they re-use stuff, like PCRE, Apache Portable Runtime (APR), SQLite, Sofia-SIP, etc.
I highly recommend FreeSWITCH instead of Asterisk.

How does FreeSWITCH compare to Asterisk? http://freeswitch.org/node/117
I wrote to them and this is their answer on the Linux port.
I'm not buying and supporting/recommending any of their games until they support Linux.

Hello ,
Thank you for contacting Technical Support. Please be advised, none of our game clients are supported nor tested under the Linux Operating system. I would recommend posting on our suggestions forums regarding the possibility of creating our game clients for the Linux Operating system as well as Mac/Windows.
Blizzard is lucky to have fans who take the time to contribute new game ideas and suggestions for improving our products. While we value the feedback and perspective our customers offer, we are legally restricted from accepting such propositions via email. I highly encourage you to log on to our Suggestions Forum at http://www.battle.net/forums/board.aspx?ForumName=suggestions and post your thoughts there.
This forum provides a valuable opportunity for Blizzard staff members to collect feedback from those who know our games best. While I cannot guarantee you will receive a response, I can assure you the Forum is regularly read and the suggestions posted there do make an impact on our game designs.
Technical Support does not have any additional information other then what is released on our website. Any information regarding our upcoming games, can be found at the following website:

I'm using the latest build of Firefox 3 (gran paradiso) on Linux right now and it doesn't crash or gets slow anymore like Firefox 2 did when I had more than 20+ tabs open, this version of Gecko also passes the Acid2 test, Firefox 3 will be a great release.
Thanks Mozilla developers for all this;)
please don't fork it, this will just produce confusion, complexity and a lot of code duplication, this is unnecessary... just make a great scheduler that works great on the desktop and server, or if this is not possible, put a scheduler for desktop and server on the vanilla kernel, like there is now different preemptions for server/desktop.

- 2.6.: still a stable kernel, but accept bigger changes leading up
to it (timeframe: a month or two).
- 2..x: aim for big changes that may destabilize the kernel for
several releases (timeframe: a year or two)
-.x.x: Linus went crazy, broke absolutely _everything_, and rewrote
the kernel to be a microkernel using a special message-passing version
of Visual Basic. (timeframe: "we expect that he will be released from
the mental institution in a decade or two").
Linux 3.0.0 is going to be a micro-kernel or hybrid probably
We pay for games too... I pay for every id software game that comes out for Linux.
And much more, just give us games and we will pay for them.

I second that.

use git
I just bought a Dell XPS M1530 laptop, I really like the laptop but the only problem is the Broadcom chipset, it's a BCM4310 USB Controller.
I tried the b43 drivers but they don't work for the USB versions, and I'm still trying with ndiswrapper, what a pain in the ass.
Hardware manufacturers and game developers should take Linux more seriously if they want us to consider buying their products.
wouldn't compiling stuff all the time stress my new shiny laptop?
I wrote to them and this is their answer on the Linux port.
I'm not buying and supporting/recommending any of their games until they support Linux.

I agree, de Icaza is a fucking moron, I wish he could go away with all his utter crap.
this release fixes the vulnerability.
just release it when it's done
I'm sure he doesn't love you too... KDE ROCKS, GNOME SUCKS
Dvorak is Doomed.
Xrandr support would be great
When will they release their promised 3d specifications for their GPUs?

you can always do a static a.out binary build for any architecture you want and that will run on any distribution.

FUCK ADOBE AND FUCK MICROSOFT
Yeah I hope to see this in the future, a modern Linux micro-kernel with all the cool features and message-passing.
I hope it will but I don't want to wait 10 years for that!
it would be cool also to see Plan 9 features in the Linux kernel and GNU tools in general

GPLv3 would be nice to see in Linux 3.0, and also a merge with the Hurd kernel
