Why are physicists so eager to show the standard model to be lacking? Every few months now we see articles telling how better experiments are confirming the standard model and eliminating some of the alternatives. Just because the standard model isn't new or built on a spiffy new foundation like "string theory" doesn't mean we should want to kill it. In fact, some of those things probably don't deserve use of the term "theory" since they are more complex and haven't been experimentally confirmed in any way (except to the extent they match the simpler "standard model").

Because the standard model does not work for everything. It dose not work well with what we think we know about general relativity.
The assumption is that the universe does not in fact run on 2 differing sets of rules. So it follows that the standard model wile working very well for the things it works for is not in fact true. Even though we believe it to be false it still works really well so we use it.
The standard model though is not a true representation of how the universe really works. We would like to find that.

Life is good now. I can get exactly what I want. I do not have t over buy my CPU because I want RAID and dual gigabit NICs.
I can get a decent CPU and put money into a board that will give me good OC capabilities.
Once this becomes the norm you know and I know the number of choices is going to go WAY down.
You will have the Super Expensive, Top CPU and what MB they thick is best, a kinda nice duo, a normal can do almost everything in a not annoying way and a low power cost saving set.

I pay pretty heftily myself sitting here in California.
I can say that as I look out into the room in front of me I see people who pay less than 0 net income tax.
Poor women who get minimum wage, food stamps, WIC, and get EIC for their kids so the get a huge check at the end of the year.
Some of these women are getting a tax refund of $7000 more than what they paid in.
That money comes from people like me. The poor benefit greatly from taxes. The roads in LA are fucked.
The water, power and transportation infrastructure is for shit. This despite the fact that State sales tax was to pay for that.
When we needed more they came up with the DMV. To pay for the roads. Then a state gas tax to pay for the roads.
So I pay sales tax, DVM fees, and Gas taxes all to pay for the fucking toll road I have to pay for to be on all the while watching the roads go to shit.

Personally think that abortion should something that is thought long and hard about. Not something that you do three times because "Condoms are inconvenient."
But blanket laws against abortion should never happen. Government need to stay the fuck out as much as possible.
OTOH. Government should never take money from one person to pay some other persons abortion. This is bad. If you want one I suggest you think hard. In the end though if you still want it, "Pay for it your fucking self."

    Math. Try it.
See what happens here in California. It will be what happens to the country as a whole soon.
Over 200,000 people who pay taxes every year move out of California for states that respect their tax payers.
What comes in are the net tax takers. We will just keep increasing taxes on those that pay them to prop up those that do not. Until there are too few to support this spending. Then Texas can pay to bail out California.
