Same goes for case, IMHO. While it's not $40, it always seemed cheaper to pick out a case locally.
I also like doing this with mouse & keyboard, if they're going to be replaced. It's good to be able to go to CompUSA or Best Buy and try out the feel of the keys.
I'll put in a plug for the good folks at mwave.com. I've built my past 3 systems entirely from what they had in stock, and they've always been real good about shipping and RMA.
They usually don't have the lowest price on pricewatch for any given component, but they're usually pretty near it. I don't mind paying ~$1-5 more for ordering from someone I've worked with before.
This is from theforce.net: Not sure if you have seen this yet, but in the new issue of Star Wars Insider, George Lucas doubts he will include the original theatrical versions of the 1977-1983 trilogy on DVD. He says that, for him, the special editions are the finished versions. And Bryan Wahrer of Alderaan Online follows up with this exact quote: 'Asked if there's a possibility of including the original versions as alternate tracks, to show the evolution of the films, showcase the state-of-the-art of the era, and preserve film history, Lucas said simply, "I don't think so. I think of the film as The Special Edition. I don't think of it as the early version, any more than I would put early rough cuts on.... I consider The Special Edition as being the final version at this point. I don't even worry about the other ones, because it went through a lot of incarnations to get to the final stage."'
"My LUG is full of great people, thes propably know more about linux than anybody!"
The rest of the country is sooo behind. I'm from Oklahoma, and we've been using 'thes' for years. We prefer the alternate spelling, "they's". Also try "them's", they can be used almost interchangeably: They's good people. Them's good people.
Next thing you know, the rest of the country will catch on to to the second person plural pronoun, "ya'll".
The point is not what broweser has the most people out there, but who controls content. For the past 4 years, sites have been sliding into IE's version of HTML and CSS. Soon, if not already, Microsoft will be able to make their own 'de facto' web standards, and flip a grimy finger at the W3C.
Having a competing product out there will go quite a ways to preventing this.

Building yourself is the way to go!

Not gonna happen.
