Don't worry about your age or how old your co-workers are. Keep doing what you're doing, keep learning, fuck anyone that resents that. I never stopped learning and improving. Even when I had employers that wouldn't pay for training, I said fuck it, and used my vacation and sent myself, if it was something I really wanted to do. I'm 40 years old now and a lot of the people I started with are still writing code on the AS/400 for the man. I have my own company and get to pick and chose what I do and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
So I can develop apps for the tablet/phone, plus, I like change and messing around with new and interesting tech. things. But I'll try any OS, even BeOS.
I'm not sure why this is modded funny. As an independent dev, I talked with a couple companies this week that want to start porting apps they have for iOS and Android to Win8/WP8. If Win8 gets a little traction there's going to be a bunch of work in the future, hopefully that happens.
Been using win8 RP and really like it, I never used the start menu much and pin stuff to the task bar. For searching, windows key, start typing still works so I'm good.
You could probably take a shoe box, construction paper, magic markers, and make a mp3 vault. Take some pics, blog about it, and the RIAA would probably think it was real.
I've been using for a little over a month and really like it. I'm not sure why it's compared to Bob.
Been using Win8 for a couple months, really like it.
you forgot, "get off my lawn."

I'd never buy anything HP makes anyway, junk laptops and desktops.
Win8 RP has improved multi monitor support.
I'd like to introduce myself, I don't use the start button.
Mostly true, only, 1 programmer working normal hours for a week or two could accomplish that task. That's one nice thing about it I guess.
I find it perfectly efficient with a mouse and keyboard, Win8 RP anyway.

Yikes, if I had to work for a company that made me use XP I'd quit.
I'll support it, it's not that difficult.
There will be an upgrade to 7.8 but not to 8 so if that's what you meant.
Adios MS, yikes, I hope not, I make a living thanks to MS. The demand for .NET devs has increased over the last 6 months so that's good.
You could probably take a shoe box, construction paper, magic markers, and make a mp3 vault. Take some pics, blog about it, and the RIAA would probably think it was real.
I have TWC, a ceton card and run media center but for the stuff I watch, I use the joy combo.
That combo is more reliable than any dvr I've ever had too. And you added links. +1.
Praying? Funny stuff, go look around, C# is probably one of the most in demand skills right now. In this case Anonymous Coward is spot on.
All the current apps in the marketplace will run on WP8.
But there will be an upgrade. 7.8.
But there are an insane amount of opportunities right now, I haven't had to look for work, it finds me. Really exciting time to be a .NET dev.
Funny, I bought a HTC Trophy for my wife, $100 on ebay. No contract renewal, cheap, works great for what she wants. Win!
"Why would someone bother writing WP8 apps right after WP7 got orphaned?" -It's fun -Really easy. -Takes very little time. -Excellent dev tools.
