That's because it's impossible to get anything done without bringing in The Parents. I've had letters sent from the family lawyer that provoked no reaction-- but things immediately started hopping once my parents decided to ask what was going on.
(Case in point was 5 people being booked in a triple [which was actually a double with three shrunken sets of furniture in it] and, while they spent three weeks sorting it out, the campus had us booked at a 120$ a night hotel... which they then billed us, without consent, warning, etc.)
I don't know about silver iodide, but I know that silver nitrate (AgNO3) stains a dark color, but it's only superficial (in that it'll fade as your skin cycles off).
On the other hand, this may cause a sudden crash in the popularity of the Blue Man Group if this comes through...
Regarding the smog though, I've heard from numerous people (probably all quoting the same source though) that to alleviate the problem of pollution, China is halting the most pollutive factories in/around the city for 1 to 3 months before the Olympics.
As somebody who owns and thoroughly uses an R4 [in an imported DS too], it's a remarkably handy unit:
DSOrganize essentially turns it into a simplified PDA with notetaking, calendar, address book, calculator, etc. The reading of ebooks and listening of music is also present. For the avid gamers, you can fit a lot more games into the space of a single cartridge.
As for what data leaves the unit- I've compared the data streams from a legit cartridge and an R4 rom and there's nothing that appeared to be identifying about the R4 unit's data. (DSO, on the other hand, keeps a record of what kind of flash cartridge you're using; That's visible on their webpage and also gives an estimate of unit popularity...)
Er... well...
According to Wikipedia, the 'real scoop' is that:
"The popular myth is that this was done to escape the strictures of the Comics Code Authority, which was imposed in 1955 following United States Senate hearings on juvenile delinquency. Actually, Kurtzman received a lucrative offer from the publisher of Pageant and only stayed when Gaines agreed to convert Mad to a similarly "slick" magazine. The immediate practical result was that Mad acquired a broader range in both subject matter and presentation. Magazines had wider distribution than comic books, and a more adult readership."
Maybe I'm missing the point here... but are they trying to replicate the appearance and behavior of an animal to study the behavior of real version of the animal?...I sense a logic error.
But really- what about all the chemical signatures? Hormones, pheromones, various smells, etc.

A smoothie, assembled in the USA... made of fruit probably from China.

But it has a sucky ping. And don't forget about dropped packets. ~_~

Great! Then we can be killing the Hive Queen in Ender's Game or the Bugs in Starship Troopers?
Calling it the Gigabeat F40 would've been cool... In the 80s...
