    At least Windows has a mostly-working version -- XP. KDE has no working version.

    Is kde 3.5 not mostly working?, or did I misread most of your rant? Have you actually thought about trying any other distros that have kde 4 and see if they have those problems?

    I wouldn't use linux for general desktop stuff either, too much pain if there's no ideological reason to go there.

    if it worked like that, I don't think anyone would have any problem with it, but in the real world the politicians will some how screw it up and it will be completely wrong and hence why we have to stop them from going anywhere near this subject

    Every time any free software developers do anything that is unorignal, they get flamed for it, look at gimp and kde 4 for examples. They do stuff different and everyone hates them for it

    There are more newbie-friendly distros then ubuntu, its just the most popular, not the best and not to mention, not everyone buys a new computer all the time, many people have 5-4 year old computers that have no chance in hell of running vista

    Because I said that ubuntu with all features would run on 512 mb and the only other os besides vista is ubuntu obvously
