At least Windows has a mostly-working version -- XP. KDE has no working version.
Is kde 3.5 not mostly working?, or did I misread most of your rant?
Have you actually thought about trying any other distros that have kde 4 and see if they have those problems?
if it worked like that, I don't think anyone would have any problem with it, but in the real world the politicians will some how screw it up and it will be completely wrong and hence why we have to stop them from going anywhere near this subject
and who believes that?, no one uses the original unix implementation or thinks its a state of art os. Besides the point, OSX, Apple and Solaris would be in the same crowd
Every time any free software developers do anything that is unorignal, they get flamed for it, look at gimp and kde 4 for examples. They do stuff different and everyone hates them for it
and have them figure out how to defeat them in 5 minutes?, having restrictions isn't going to stop them from looking at anything at all, especially when they have unrestricted physical access to the laptops
There are more newbie-friendly distros then ubuntu, its just the most popular, not the best and not to mention, not everyone buys a new computer all the time, many people have 5-4 year old computers that have no chance in hell of running vista
I think its a case of "OMG SOMETHING DIFFERENT I HATE IT", rather then a rational reason of why people hate it

Have you even actually tried kde 4.1? or are you still going on, on what it was like in kde 4.0?
I really don't understand why everyone hates the awesome bar so much
I wouldn't use linux for general desktop stuff either, too much pain if there's no ideological reason to go there.
what the hell are you saying?, can you explain this pain?

I think you have to be really stupid to know they aren't a news source
Are you new here?
Have you watched fox news lately?, I think they are more closely related then they apear
so that we can get rid of the arrrrggghh pirates.
End rant :)
You mean these pirates http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h4fq-7G0Z-9La1naAUm11RXFQiFAD956FIVO0 oh how silly of me to think there are actual pirates that actually hurt people
how?, the GPL is a license people put on their software willingly
and who believes that?, no one uses the original unix implementation or thinks its a state of art os. Besides the point, OSX, Apple and Solaris would be in the same crowd
You should tell that to the GIMP haters on slashdot ;)
err, I mean original, sorry

I suppose now I can't send someone a document though email now, because that is file sharing and its apparently ilegal
except when the smart ones tell the dumb ones what to do
and then you have created a black market for resetting bios passwords, yay
and have them figure out how to defeat them in 5 minutes?, having restrictions isn't going to stop them from looking at anything at all, especially when they have unrestricted physical access to the laptops
So how would the american voters make anything better?
I doubt Mccain cares about our rights any more then obama does, so its a lose-lose situation

Why would you want a linux distro to only run windows apps?, wouldn't you just run windows?
You know, everyone spends at least $1100 on a computer, the average joe always spends more then $1100 on a machine
Because I said that ubuntu with all features would run on 512 mb and the only other os besides vista is ubuntu obvously
