  1. But gold is just chips too on Why Japan Hates the iPhone · · Score: 1

The gold standard isn't some magic that makes currency have 'real' value. Gold itself has very little intrinsic value. Its rarity doesn't justify its price--that's due to speculators who know there are people like you around and can keep the price high.

Gold's only got a high value because there are a lot of people who hold (not use) it because of its high value. If it had to be valued on its use (like most other commodities), it'd be valued by rarity and would be worth a couple of bucks a brick.

In short, gold is just like poker chips--it has value because someone else said it does.

So not only would they pay, they have paid already. And now the cops enforce laws that work against the stability of society instead of promoting it.

Then call the vendor who supplied the Scheduling module to the PACS system. "Oh, they have to be administrator for that to work."

Then call the vendor.... Repeat until you want to get a gun.

Maybe the real answer is to not buy software that works that way, but that assumes that buying decisions are based on obscure technical details like this. Not bloody likely.

    Instead, do the exact opposite:

#1 Make sure all the equipment is in perfect working order.

#2 Give competent co-workers all the information they need to do your job.

#3 Then take a week off to hold a sign up outside the SF courthouse.
