I'm running 266Mhz P2 with 128Mb here. I have a fast hard disk, which helps, but KDE+Open office is a little slow. It is useable, though. I can even open 12 tabs in opera and still get OK response. Before, when I had 80Mb, it was unuseable. I think 128Mb ram is the absolute minimum.
NOKIA 3310 GSM phone would give you voltage, SNR, charge current, etc.. Fun to watch. But, no, not very useful. What was fun was I had signal strength from all neighbouring towers.

Surely you need some understanding of a control theory to use a PID? Otherwise you'll end up with weird over/under shoots. Not that it matters for coffee, but still.. What did he do? Just use the reference circuit from the datasheet?

I still fail to understand how you make that jump(and it is quite a large jump). Its a nice theory that proprietry formats=subjugation of the 3rd world, but it does not make sense (at least to me). Are you implying that the 3rd world has less of a choice? Sure there is more piracy - both options are "free", but I know people who use OOo out of preference, and because of the nice PDF export function(newer versions of MSoffice with this feature are not prevalent yet) and I use LyX exclusively for word processing. We still have choice here. Same as you. In fact PDF seems more widely accepted since you can't open MSOffice 2007 documents in 2000/2003 unless a converter (rare here) is installed.

I live and work in a 3rd world country(coincidentally the one Badanalogyguy mentioned) for a research institute that cares so little about standards that they stick bare wires into wall sockets rather than going to the trouble of buying plugs. And thats a safety standard. You must be trolling because document standards have no impact whatsoever on an economy like this one. The connection between document standards and imperialism is quite a leap even for a slashdot troll.

This is a problem with SIS, not ASUS. Its a useless card, but ASUS did not supply AGP or PCI express with such an old board, so its all I got.
Add SIS to that list please! I want accelaration on my legacy card. They ignored my emails, but they seem to make it hard to contact them. Anyone have a correct email address?

I have to correct some things,

a.) is bad because the more current you draw from a pv-panel the less voltage you will get thus you cannot charge a battery with

Uh... No. Batteries charge by drawing current. This will naturally cause a voltage drop on your supply. The voltage of the battery will be a compromize between the battery's (uncharged) voltage and the voltage rise due to the amount of current the panel is able to supply. The diode prevents the battery reverse "charging" the solar panel in the dark. This system works well in practise. The company that makes the systems here is Zimbabwean (so no URL - just take my word for it) uses relays to "regulate" the charging. The actually problem is with overcharging (and thus damaging) the battery by forcing the voltage above 14V if the system is left unused and charging for too long.
Funny, but why not? Optionally installed of course.... Trying to mandatorily include DRM in all opensource media players would be a very strange and ludicrous idea. But if someone wants to hang themselves, give them some more rope and fetch the popcorn.

I got the bit about newton being wrong(or at least only a good approximation) in advanced physics class. But I completely missed thermodynamics being "incorrect". Or do I need a physics (instead of engineering) degree just to understand that?
Scientists now believe they are better than God and can do all that God can. So one poor unfortunate is told to go and tell God that his divine services are no longer required.

1. The Christian's point of view: do what God wants or he might not be your friend anymore and let you fry. And all the athiest's reasons.
2. The athiest's point of view: helping other people has benefits; They might help you out later. It may reduce carbon output global warming etc if you help the 3rd world out to the extent that they don't burn so much coal/oil, etc. I'm sure you can think of other reasons.
Probably for smoothing(filtering) the input voltage. A radio will easily function without these, especially if run off battery and not mains. On mains you'd get a nasty hum.
