Wow. There was a time people couldn't let go of a game and it was only top down, with 3 squares moving about.
Now it's whine whine whine about stupid little things that don't really take anything away from a great story, great action and a chance to get into Claudia Blacks pants.
Oh come on. You're aware of the backup loader that's circulating, right? Folks are playing games illegally via a software mod. Only thing you need is Twilight Princess to get the stuff to work. First version was a bit slow, but there's a highly anticipated followup which is being tested righ now that plays virtually every game at regular speeds. You moan about Nintendo trying to stop this? Believe me, slashdot is talking about homebrew when in actuality it's all about being able to play backups. Without the hassle of getting a chip soldered in.
Ah, but that just means you're doing it wrong. I'm sure it's only a small percentage of the 10 million strong userbase that ever hits the top and runs out of content. The more casual players (and there's a lot of them) have enough to do untill the expantion hits.
I see the same thing in Everquest 2. Rise of Kunark comes out and a week later there's folk running around who have seen it all and done it all. And for them, that's where the grind starts, while the comre casual players are still hanging around in the lower tiers of the expantion, having fun discovering stuff and doing quests.
Look at it this way... when you hit the top, freeze your account and go play that huge pile of singleplayer games (or multiplayer games, whatever, the non-mmo's). That's what I do, at least. Play the MMO for a couple of months, then exit and catch up on Galaxies, Mass Effect and the like. I used to be "stuck" in an MMO for ages before, but I always felt I needed more diversion in my play time. Could be the perfect MMO just hasn't come around yet. If it does, I'll probably go back to the 24/7 regime.
Now I know why Belgium has these draconian 15GB datalimits. Those aren't a leftover from the past, our providers are actually preserving our internet for the future!
My idea of the perfect living room would be the bridge on the Starship Enterprise. You know what I mean? Big chair, nice screen, remote control.. that's why Star Trek really was the ultimate male fantasy. Just hurling through space in your living room, watching
TV. That's why all the aliens were always dropping in, because Kirk was the only one that had a big screen. They came over Friday night, Klingon boxing.. gotta be there.
Well... I suppose we would end up with a lot more quality tv though. And instead of a pilot, the writers and would-be show makers could present it to the public in another way. Maybe a short CGI segment to portray the flavor and the general idea. Or perhaps via comics, as Joss is doing now, except he had the series first and the drawn word after.
That would explain the weird open-ending they had! Now we have to buy a car to see if he gets shot?
I also think (and hope) subscription series will be the next big thing. I'm a Joss Whedon fan. His last creation, as we all know, got axed before it found an audience. This has burned Joss to the tv-media and it's unlikely he'll return to it. Unless he could just get his works out straight to dvd, sent via the post or just via a subscription to download the stuff online. You just know he's open to that, considering he's doing just about the same thing but in printed media with Buffy Season 8, Runaways and before that Astonishing X-men.
So where are all the naked bitches at?
They were planning to go after Mubarak. They just missed their window of opportunity. Also, there were internet difficulties and such.

Lies! Only six more weeks of winter.
Don't worry about it. In another 4 years they'll have a portable emitter.

Faith's words, not mine. (Season 8 issue 7 I believe it was.)
Anyanka would agree. Would she be alive after Sunnydale went from being an outy to an inny.
