So you are assuming what I know? You don't even fucking live here, I know what the Electoral College is. Electors (set # for each state) are appointed. The citizens vote for a candidate, and the one who gets the most votes is supposed to get the Elector's votes. Some states (Michigan) can split the Electorate votes by % of votes each candidate got. The Electors do not have to follow the actual voters "suggestion," but if they didn't, chances are pretty good that he would be out of a job the next time.

    That explanation enough for you?

Simple answer: it's not a problem if no one is complaining. If they were worried about getting paid, they would not do it for free. They do it because they like to program, want to help out, like the concept of free*/free**, etc. I'm a bit tired of hearing people (who do not write the programs) complain that these coders are being taken advantage of. I could write software for free for MS if I damn well pleased, so I can write it for OSS too. I prefer it for OSS since no one profits directly from my work, except by gaining & using what I wrote. If it helps them in some way, great! If it doesn't, no skin off your nose, so why do you care.

They have marketshare. That's it. By saying MS regulates the computer industry, you do a disservice to everyone who writes software outside MS. Anyone who has come up with a standard protocol, etc. Regulation means they tell you what you cannot do. MS cannot tell me what I can't do. If I steal something from them, they can ask the Gov to step in, but that would be the same in any industry.

People seem to have this notion that the computer industry is by itself in its problems. Any nontechnical problem that has come up in Computers has probably come up somewhere else. Any industry has its giant corporation(s) that do things their way, and any other way is wrong.
