From what I could see, that article only had links to other articles that didn't have links to the actual museum website. Its a pretty weak website but still would hav ebeen nice to have a link somewhere. http://dss.collections.imj.org.il/
Nah. The government is gonna give them a $500 million 0% interest loan first. They won't fold until all the money has been transferred to a few execs offshore accounts. And that will take at least 2 years...;)
Perhaps the problem is that inexperienced project managers are running the show rather than a unified vision from a single executive. Just check out this guys blog here: http://christian.legnitto.com/blog/page/8/
He started in March 2010, and about 1/2 of his blog posts are about either "blogging is hard," supermoto, snowboarding, or some new popular song on youtube. This guy is all over the place, just like Mozilla's releases. This may be one of my last/. posts from a Mozilla browser...
Cannot agree more. I'm a So-Cal guy and I love it here but I've been watching this state drive out business, particularly in tech, for the last 10 years. My hope is to stay and pay the insane state taxes, but if all the jobs leave (San Diego is still doing OK, largely thanks to Quallcom) I'm going to have to leave too.:(
Glassdoor.com rating for solyndra was only a 2.6, which is pretty bad considering the exciting tech they work with. Most of the posts (most recent was in May) are by Engineers who basically say "the tech is cool, but management is terrible and top heavy."
So, really not that surprising how it went down...
If they still had $250+ million on tap in low interest federal loans, I don' t think they would have gone bankrupt. I suspect they already exercised the majority of the $500 million in loans and spent most of it on golden parachutes for the executives.
Or we can ignore the righteous asshats who think they have the answers to apparent global problems and enjoy ourselves. It's what most people in generations before us did and somehow we are still here. I have a strong inkling that's what our kids will do too...
Kick back dude. Drink a beer. Look at a nice set of hooters and breath deeply.:)
Clark Foam, which made 85% of the foam blanks for all surfboards closed shop after years of pressure from the EPA and repeated raids/fines by CA and federal authorities. It was big deal at the time (2005): http://www.surfermag.com/features/clarkfoam/
Back in 2005, the average price for a new surfboard jumped about 50% (~$400 to ~$600 a board) and that price hasn't come down on anything but generic shapes (i.e. Costco surfboards) since. Now our surfboard blanks are lower quality, come from companies in China, who have no qualms about dumping toxic chemicals into the environment, and they cost about the same because there is no competition other than a few colluding companies. A LOT of independent American surfboard shapers (aka small business owners) have been pushed out because they can't get blanks reliably in small numbers like they could directly from Clark in the past.
As I recall, when Clark shutdown he basically said he'd been dealing with these people (government authorities) for 30 years and couldn't continue to carry this industry on his shoulders or his bank account anymore. The US economy will suffer, likely forever, and we will lose art and innovation, but it wasn't his burden to carry alone. And he walked away. Probably surfing on a remote island paradise somewhere...
I am 28, but my age is irrelevant to the discussion... I've volunteered at carnivals where we crushed one ton of potatoes over six days, for years, and the 50-year-old ladies never failed.
Hehe, well I guess I was only right about 2 of the 3. But I think your age is certainly relevant. While you might only be 28, you seem to think, act, and befriend people like someone who is much older.
another instance where I gave someone a $75 ticket for a concert over another friend and he decided not to show up, a friend I provided $2500 of videography for in exchange for a place to stay, and she didn't pay the $160 hotel bill, 200 hours of work put into an organization at the president's request when the president didn't even bother to look at what I had produced, and the list goes on and on
Dude, have you noticed a recurring theme here? I.e. YOU. Sounds like your are one of those guys that most people see as a semi-creepy nerd who does things expecting to be reciprocated with money/favors/friends/sex or whatever it is you really want, but you never have the huevos to tell anyone what those things are. Therefore your peers (not best friends mind you) assume it is the creepiest thing they can think of and they do everything they can to get away after you do your part. And so, you get burned, bury your feelings in real life, then let them burst out on the internets with confrontational posts that stereotype things according to your own paradigm. Try to step out of your own shoes once and a while and understand other peoples' world view, which is obviously much different from your own (hence the disconnect between your expectations and reality). I'm not saying some of those people aren't bad peeps, but I am saying that trying to understand where they are coming from, wherever that is, will help you mitigate those kinds of situations. That is a big part of being successful in social situations...
Criticizing the "victim's" personality is not an excuse for the poor behavior of self-centered people who care nothing for others.
Aaaaah, I think we may have arrived at a source of your frustrations here... Victimization. You are a victim of a what??? Social structure that isn't perfectly shaped to fit the way you were brought up? The real world isn't fair, and you are not perfect my friend. Accept that and you will be able to move on, befriend younger folks, and grow.;)
OK, Dr. SDGuero is gonna call this case closed for now. I highly recommend checking out some of the literature/classes out there to help understand your own paradigm:
I took an MBTI course and it was really interesting. Best of all my employer paid for it...:)

Ever heard of an old person acting like they can't hear something when they really just don't want to hear something?
What about someone from another country saying no habla anglais?
The cell phone thing is just a newish tool to eject from an encounter. Whether the motive is based on passive-aggressive/non-confrontational/disrespectful/whatever-the situation-is behavior, its one way that some people deal with others. I'd expect young people to use this one more as cell phones are a relatively new technology and young people tend to adopt new technologies more quickly that oldies. Is it rude? Yes. Are their rude people in every generation? Yes. Does this stat mean that young people are ruder than old? Not necessarily.
Since you are going to jump to conclusions about generation-Y based on a correlation you have perceived from that article, I think I have the right to jump to conclusions about you based on correlations I perceive from your post:
I'm guessing that you are over 30, don't have stellar social skills, and are confrontational...
It sucks so bad... We now have the 18mbps (upgraded from 6 to 12, and now to 18) plan and I haven't gotten over 6mbps since upgrading. It is actually slower now than it was with the 6mbps plan. Usually during peak hours I'm seeing under 2mbps and can't even play games or watch youtube videos above 240p.
I ran/submitted Uverse to this FCC test almost a year ago, it was much faster then and we actually got speeds as advertised. Me thinks the ISPs might have a way to game these metrics. I mean, its the FCC, I would hope private industry could outsmart a bunch of federal bureaucrats if they can survive in business.
I've actually tried blind testing, and I can tell the difference between 10" 12" 15" and 18" woofers connected to the same signal. The 10-12s" are punchier, but the 15-18s" make your chest feel like it might collapse. If you can only have one woofer size, I'd go 15". Otherwise, mix up some 18s, 15s, 12s, and 10s if you can. The more the merrier!
Btw, I like all kinds of music but think dynamic bass is almost as beneficial to classic rock as it is for modern hip hop. Mids and highs are key too, but without that deep rumblepunch you get from a solid woofer arrangement (NOT a surround sound 10" bandpass sub POS) I'm not satisfied.;)
Hell yes! I just spent $750 getting my 380SEs rebuilt after getting tossed around garages and backyards for the last 15 years. They sound awesome again. And the bass cannot be matched by any 10" home theatre subwoofer...

it seems like you should know that it's a lot easier to create a huge government bureaucracy than it is to dismantle one...
Get one. It's worth it.

Oh no! My next 3 TB drive is going to cost $105 instead of $100. The sky is falling!
Pffft. This isn't news worthy.
I'll be here all week. ;)
