Cerwin Vega 380SEs. And it was worth every penny. They were $2000 new in 1989, so around $3500 in today's dollars. These things have enough bass to shake the house down and they also have GREAT mids and highs. I just wish I had a legit amp to push them with... For now my old Pioneer reciever is still doing the job.
When my roommate dropped $1500 on a 7.1 system for the family room I was all for it, but that system doesn't come close to the fidelity I get from my old Vegas, or the bass. Especially the bass. It's brutal.:-D
That said, these speaker are huge, ugly, and weigh 95 pounds each. Not exactly a sleek audio system... Ok I'm done bragging.;)
During my time in Mexico most of the ex-pats I met were conservative/libertarian and couldn't handle our increasingly overbearing government anymore. So they left and most were happier for it.
Or maybe, just maybe, we are a little too reliant on pills to fix our problems. I bet the author of the (likely biased) article has seen a pill popper or two get started with a perfectly legitimate ambien prescription from their doctor. In my experience, people like the stuff they get (ambien, ritallin, viagara, zyrtec, whatever), then just keep ratcheting things up until they get to Oxycontin, Valium, etc. And doctors prescribe it for them! Literally the last thing that person needs is more drugs and here is someone who spent 7 years in school learning how to help people but can't spot a drug addict right in front of their face (or doesn't want too)... It's crazy.
A perfectly normal, strong, smart person who just likes the feeling of being fucked up will continue to ask for more and some doctors are happy to keep writing prescriptions to the point of destroying a life. I've seen it first hand.
From what I've read, that would be a waste of the man's talents. He's an engineer first, CEO second. A good president need only inspire, otherwise they are mostly just a puppet.
The difference is that we consider one dead soldier to be an issue. Alexander likely lost thousands to the weather when he conquered Afghanistan. Since some of my best friends are in the military, I prefer the way we do it.
Fyi, arguing with apple fanbois is pointless. It's like telling a catholic priest that god is a woman, or a prius owner that organic food isn't any better for them. Pointless.
It appears that whoever wrote the summary didn't read the links they provided:
"I am going to provide an official fix for crypt_blowfish (likely the
one-liner plus added tests). I thought I'd bring the issue up on
oss-security sooner rather than later."
So, the bug appears to have been found today and the developer has a one liner solution but hasn't released a patch. I think the summary did a piss poor job talking about what is affected by the problem too... specifically crypt_blowfish, which i know my company uses for a few things. It is interesting to know that this hash is now far weaker than originally thought until it gets patched (which will prolly take a long time to make it into major distros).
Anyway, i'm done bitching, definitely a story worthy of/. I just think the summary was trying to tie in too much (old bugs blah blah) and misrepresented the impact and fix.
Mod parent up! For the farming subsidies if nothing else...
Most Americans (and most posts in these comments) seem to think our farm subsidies help the third world. In reality, third world farmers suffer because they have to compete with prices that fluctuate widely based on which subsidized farm in the USA/Europe is dumping 6 month old grain onto the market. I've heard of rice shipments from Thailand to South America getting turned around in the middle of the Pacific because some warehouse in Mississippi decided to dump 500 tons onto the market at a cheaper price. The majority of American farming subsidies result in financial ruin for farmers and investors in poor countries. It creates an environment where only black market crops, like marijuana and opium, make any sense to grow because they don't have to compete with American/European subsidies.
Bush passed a $180 billion dollar farm aid bill back in 2002 that was the biggest ever, and then an even bigger one in 2008 for $288 billion. Clinton passed a big one back in 1996, and I expect Obama to follow suit when it becomes his turn to kowtow to big business next year. It's a stupid system that, in the USA anyway, ONLY benefits large corporate entities. The politicians spin it as helping American farming families, when in reality 95% of the subsidies go to large corporation like McDonalds and RJ Reynolds.
If you wanna feel good about saving the environment and don't care what it costs, donate 500 catalytic converters to Mexico City. Then drive something cool. You will do a hell of a lot more for the planet than cruising around in an overpriced battery and you won't look like a smug douchebag.
I agree, and personally I don't care what the tobacco companies do. If you think cigarettes are bad, don't smoke. If your worried about second hand smoke, stay away from smokers. If you are righteous you can even go tell people not to smoke, its a free country after all. Just don't be surprised if you get some puffs blown in your face.
Anyone can quit smoking cigarettes. Blaming a company or industry for making an addictive product is a cop out. Being unhealthy isn't enough reason to outlaw it (that goes for our other stupid drug laws btw).
I think getting upset about what the tobacco companies do to cigarettes/tobacco is a waste of energy. To your point, it achieves nothing because they are far more powerful than any individual, and as a corollary it has no impact on your non-smoking life. If you are a smoker and you're upset, just quit smoking. Or buy tobacco from a smaller grower. They are out there.
I see a lot of possibilities here. What about a Battlefield 2 style command and control team system? The commander could have the main screen and the troops could use their controllers as FPS devices.
Or playing mario kart, each with there own individual screen and the TV showing a top down view of the amp with score keeping.

Look it up.
Your post is incredibly self absorbed.

Seriously. Elon Musk for President?
From what I've read, that would be a waste of the man's talents. He's an engineer first, CEO second. A good president need only inspire, otherwise they are mostly just a puppet.
Your post made me feel sad.
cause its harder to see how fat they are.

Stop taking it. Ignore the shocks and they will go away. Don't be a slave to big pharma because you have a mental hurdle.
Your not special.
So you think Apple's patent is solid?

Thanks for depressing me...

Last time I checked, a flashlight is an accessory. Usually for a gun.
It would make an awesome console for virtual poker games too. :)

I'm excited about the potential...
My understanding is that the old remotes will work with the new wii.
Take care to spread blame to progressives and conservatives for the war on drugs. Both sides have played their part.
