Eh, the z80 in the genesis wasn't really for sound. There were a handful of games (3 or 4 if I recall) that did use it, but it was mostly there for the Master System compatibility.
And the Game Gear used a z80 as well.

Well, I used to work for gamecenter, just preface.

I never really cared much for their content, I mean, I don't much care for articles about games, reviews, etc. I have other sites that I feel are more in tune with my thought process. But the one thing that Gamecenter had was more hardcore articles. I mean, they have articles on how to overclock your computer, how to overclock your video card, etc. When I worked there I did a ton of testing on Voodoo 2 overclocking. How far could I get each card before it started to fuck up.
Well, Gamecenter will certainly be missed. I hope everyone I knew who still worked there has other options and places to go.

It certainly does not attract dust, and is far cheaper than dynamat. Of course, when you add this, you're just adding insulation which means more heat buildup, which means more fans...
Of course, it is fairly easy to find an equalibrium. On my spare computer here, i can't even tell if it's running, that's how quiet it is.
Of course, I mounted the drives with padding on the sides, and used a shoebox lined with carpet padding to cover the power supply fan to dampen the noise.
It's really very nice, works well, just make sure you have enough ventilation.

And as far as the "not running existing software" why is that a problem? When I bought my DC I knew that it didn't run any existing software, but that's ok, because they make software for it.
And, of course, it will certainly not be as buggy as some desktop systems. Those are usually caused by faulty drivers, and any one of a billion different configurations.
Because an X-Box would have ONE specific set of hardware, everything can be designed specifically for it. It is not necessary to build a whole lot of expandibility or other such into it.

They were divorced about 3 months later.
I'd say sleep is a dangerous drug

Quake3 isn't open source, do you trust it? (I know the example isn't the same, id is a reputable company, Ignitor is just a guy) but hey, not everything is, or should be open source. When it allows people to cheat the system, there's no reason to release the source.

I only used it like this for a week, because i was painfully slow on it (because i had never used it before), and i switched back because the rest of the world is QWERTY. I have to go to school and use their keyboards, my dad, my sister, my grandparents, my friends, they're all qwerty. There's no sense in having to learn/know 2 different keyboard layouts.
