    I think his point is that A is the only one that counts, let alone matters. If you have A, you pass regardless of the other options, if you don't have A, there's no way to make it up from the other options. Not just stupid but actively retarded I think.

    No, I actually was replying to the point quoted. Which is to say that not everyone votes only on the basis of what is good for them personally but many just for what is right.

    WRT pre-existing conditions, it's a bit tricky. It would be nice to see something done for people in that situation but allowing them to just get away Scott free with not having insurance previously doesn't seem right either. It would be really nice to have a discussion about it before having this impending bill rammed down our throats.

    Not really. Go look at the Wikipedia entry for Mussolini and see which parties he was involved with. And, whilst attempting not to Godwin, check out the roots also of the name of the other mid 20th century fascist government of note.

    I had a counterpoint to you but really, it didn't contradict your underlying point that basically, yes, it is stupid.

    With the higher interest rate, you may get a similar (or even higher) reward but your potential liabilities go high enough to wipe you out if something happens to the market (c.f. the recent housing crisis).

    I think diesel just doesn't care. Gas needs the correct ratio and the spark, diesel just needs the heat & pressure. The heat & pressure comes from the compression of the air so you need (approximately) the same mass of air for each stroke.

    Diesel. I forget the name for it but there's no throttle. Power is controlled strictly by metering the fuel. With FI, whilst mechanical control would be possible, the only sane way is really with a computer.

    Yup. I meant the S/MIME. I used to use it but the servers at my brother's company would delete emails signed with it.

    It's supported true enough but not to the level required for it to become ubiquitous. For webmail, decryption should be handled in the browser (a way should be found to make it generic for all webpages) and key management should also be built into the browser in a way that is very nearly transparent.

    I predict driving will be completely automated by the end of the century. The only HUD you'll need will be will be for your email (or whatever replaces it by then) notifications & RSS feeds if you're watching the scenery go by.
