There's a very simple reason why there is a major difference between art and objects.
Art remains, objects turn to dust.
How many chairs in your house do you have that are 100+ years old ? How many books do you own that were written 100+ years ago ?
A chair is a chair, and you don't really need to translate a chair to be usable in another country. A chair doesn't allow you to reflect ideas, bring knowledge, or even understand new things. Don't forget, you won't be able to use your chair for anything else than sitting on it, on the other hand, books have been used to change the world. Without books, you wouldn't know how to build a chair... At best, you would've cut a tree and sat on it. Don't insult the things that made you who you are.
The main idea here is that authors do not get paid for the material product, but for the ideas they're spreading.
Think bigger, or better yet, start thinking. It's not because you don't understand the concept of wanting to learn it doesn't exist.
* Not that I think Google is a monopolist, nor can I see why they would be classed as such It's not Google's monopolistic nature that scares people, it's the sense of hegemony that pours out of all their apps...
They want to do everything, maps, email, search, video, phones, calendar, file indexing, coder motivation, etc
I don't mind it, I mean, it's not your usual next door company, but they are a regular company. Plus, a few people think it'll soon be all over
Though, I do understand why people would see Google as an evil company, the bottom line is that they are nothing more than a company, believing that they are a God given gift, is just stupid...
I mean, who gives a damn about math ? You don't need to be brilliant in math to code a forum in PHP ? Nor do you need to be especially bright during the math class in order to understand how [insert cool language or feature here] works, and how to use it...
I mean, I don't think I'm a bad programmer, I'm still studying, but I guess I'm not that bad, but hell, I completely failed math for my bachelor's degree (2/20), and still am that weak in that domain...
The point is, there's absolutely no need for math in the most common tasks..
Ok, someone said you needed math to get a filesystem going. I'm sorry, but you really don't need to know how to use a Fourrier Series, or to know the Achilles Numbers by heart to open a file, save some stuff in it, and then close it eh... ( --fopen/fputs/close-- ok, so maybe that's a wee bit too simplified, but still, you get the point). So really, until you get to the point where you have to start designing chips that draw things on the screen; you're not going to need a lot of what you've learned...
Of course, this is completely different from job to job... Last internship, I was soaked in marine biology, and a lot of stuff I hadn't seen in years (almost a decade ?)... I'm sure, if I had to take an intership at another place, where math is the big guy in town, well yeah, I'd need start filling up the gaps in maths, but just because at one given position, I needed references in biology, doesn't mean none of us should drop biology when taking CS !
Maths can be a big bonus, whatever the domain you're in. Be it computer science, or just toasting burgers at the local snack. But don't forget they can be as much a big bonus as they can be NOT.

Gentoo a pain in the ass ?
So basically, you can't:
1/ fdisk/dev/Xda 2/ mke2fs a few filesystems 3/ mount them && cd into them 4/ wget a stage3 file and untar it 5/ chroot into your new system 6/ edit a few configuration files 7/ compile your kernel and copy it to boot partition 8/ install a few packages 9/ install grub
Trust me, it's not ubuntu who failed, nor Gentoo, nor even Vista, in your case, it's a PICNIC !
My personal belief is that nowadays coders are just too bored to create any new kind of captcha's...
Just thinking about it, I can think of some new ways to make it pretty hard...
The greatest way spammers found to keep spamming, was to have humans (e.g. the guy seeking his free porn) enter the captcha, the bot gets the value back, and manages to subscribe/create an account/login/post... Now, how could you stop things like that ?
"(Some image) some text (another image) and yet some text again"
The user would then need to type the whole sentence, and not just the word...
Also, if you already have javascript on your website, just put some hidden input in the form, which value would be changed by javascript, you can put any kind of algorithm here, be it some ajax or whatever, just change it dynamically, if it doesn't work, either it's a spammer, or it's someone who doesn't see/uses your website at optimal power anyway... Bots don't support javascript all too well...
Another thing would be to show captcha's as part of the design, and not some img src='captacha.php?id=0937409283' which is a dead giveaway... Like I said earlier (see above), having one part of the sentence shown using a regular image, and the other using CSS or whatever banner.jpg that gets processed through PHP, sure it won't be CPU safe, but it'll get you there...
Suuuuure, like someone said earlier, they will always be able to crack down any method you put up, if they really want to get to your website and spam it down, they'll get there...
It's just a matter of coding the right bot...
But for long shot bots, I'll be damned if they get through that kind of things...
Just give it an AMD CPU.
Mars Explorer with central heating? Done.
You might want to check what card exactly you have, running both drivers at once is probably... Overkill.
Uh, because Microsoft is a monopoly and Google and Apple are not?
Wait... Google is not a monopoly? Ahahaha, nice one
How in the world do you have this much phone sex, period, but especially at work, and not have anyone notice?
Easy, you work for Verizon.

Well you could also look at Adam Modules (http://www.eautomationpro.com/us/RS-485-I-O-Modules/subc_MstrCATE_EAPRO_RSMOD.aspx), they allow to use a lot of different modules (up to 255 on a serial port).
If it's just reading some temperatures, wind speed, etc, then I guess these are great, plus, it's plain rs232, so fairly easy to use.
I guess there are a lot of different products that get the same results, it's just a matter of opinion, and experience.
This is it? Whatever happened to money? I mean where is the good old-fashioned loot?

Do they even need management tools for Windows ? Isn't it supposed to be easy ?
I mean, put the CD in, install, reboot, install, reboot, the use it, reboot, use it, reboot, then after the weekend's over, install, reboot, inst...
brb, gotta reboot...
