What is people's hang up with 3.0? It will be that exact same code, except uname -v (do I remember the command line options?) will report 2.6.0 instead of 3.0.0.
You ceratinly don't want to be sniffing my keyboard. I have like 5 years of cheerios and milk and other food living/dying in there. I have it willed to science when I die. Granted the longer I use the keyboard the better chance I have of being killed by it. Like last night it went out on the town and didn't come back until the wee hours of the morning all tipsy and drunk. Damn, I think my keyboard has a better social life than my wife and I. Just to reiterate, my keyboard is not safe to sniff. So, any FBI agents, just be careful around my keyboard. And wear nasal protection if you try to smell it.
This is why game consoles should remain the only serious way to play.
My wife and I play a lot of games. On our playstation 2, and computers, both linux and windows games.
As my evaluation goes, we play the console games when we want to just kick back and have a little fun. Serious games are done on the computer. Maybe my idea of serious is more along the lines of "I need to think to win" or "I want to be challenged by other humans" as serious gaming.
Also, I usually think of a serious gamer as someone who will tweak their video card to get an extra 2fps. If I have to play with some things to get a game working it doesn't really bother me too much.
For instance last weekend I downloaded the rtcw-enemy-territory for linux and spent an hour or so trying to figure things out and setting up servers. It was kind of fun.
My point is its not the serious gamer that uses consoles, its someone who wants a quick gaming fix. That doesn't make consoles lesser or greater, just a different style of gaming.
Hmmm, what we (my wife and I) do is get a basic local package, then we use a calling card for long distance. I think our bill is roughly 20 a month or less. Then at Sams we pick up the longest minute calling card for long distance. We just had to replace our 1000 minute card from last summer with a new 1250 minute card this month. So, basically we (which I mean my wife) just has to change the autodialer every 8 months which might take all of 10 minutes.
So, basicaly we save $20 a month on long distance for the cost of 10 minutes and $40 to buy the card. Seems like a pretty good deal for us.
(Whitehouse - AP) Talks with the lunar polar ice caps have broken down. George Bush has added the lunar polar ice caps to the axis of evil. When questioned in a whitehouse news conference Ari Fleischer replied, "Well, with Saddam presumabley pushing up daisies we the state department decided that only two evil nations left, an axis it does not make. And it was either France or the lunar polar ice caps. Powell finally got George to declare for the moon."
(Pyongyang - AP) Pyongyang has declared that war is on the horizon for the US and North Korea. Leader Kim Jong stated before crowd that the NKPA will destroy the imperialistic American pig dogs for the insult of being grouped with the lunar polar ice caps. "Screw the nuclear missile crap and extortion of cash from the US cause our economy is failing, this final insult means war. We will send more plane to harass those spy planes flying over the ocean we don't control!"
(Iran - AP) No word from Iran today, presumabley because they are too busy beating their women and oppressing their people.
This is the beauty of a *modern day* multi-tasking OS like GNU/Linux.
For the most part I'd agree with you. However, when there is a lot of disk IO, it will still bind up some. Not so bad with SCSI disks, but IDE drives, even with DMA you will run into problems.
When gentoo is doing the copying part it can still be pretty chunky on the desktop. Granted usually that is for a fairly short period of time. During the build its pretty reasonable, as it should be.
I dunno. I think EPI and EPII were intentionally bad. You see, when aliens dig up the the artifacts of our civilization, they are going to find this set of movies. The first three are going to suck, but finally they get to the final three and they are better, still cheesey, but better. Then they are going to find the odd and put them in a museum since be studied for years and years. Its really just a trick of immortality for Lucas.
Atleast that is his plan till darth vader cuts him in half and he becomes more powerful then you could ever imagine...
There's a book you might want to read... I hear the graphics are pretty good and it follows the original storyline.:-P
Seriously, I can see watching a movie a couple times, even buying a movie if its really good. But watching it 30 times in a 6 month period? No, there are some issues with that. You realize that it 5 times a month, which is more than once a week on average. You need some help.
Yeah, just cause there is evidence that there were warmer temps when there were vikings running around doesn't mean I have to believe it!
Yeah! I believe what I want, regardless of what anyone tells me. If you don't mind, I'm going over here to stick my head in the ground cause the sky is falling, I just know it.
I bet it was killing all the hot air windbags eco nuts that lead to the mini ice age afterwards. Maybe we need to take a play from Erik's playbook and do the same.:-)
Title) Its already moving, like hurtling through space at 66000 miles per hour.
1) There is o way for a round cover to fall into the hole. A square one could potentially be lifted then turned 45 degrees and all in there.
2) An awful lot. But my theory is there is an even number. Sort of like Burger Kings and McDonalds, where there is one, there is always another.
3) I'd trick all the gondola drivers into taking eye exams and poke them in the eyes with sharp sticks or make the eye exam thing poke them in the eyes.
4) Gonna have to go with Microsoft on question number four.
And it sounds like you have an agenda behind it. The goal of open source software should not be to destory the capitalistic pig dogs Amerikan software companies. You seem to imply that is the case with: What I see as successful are the projects that do something that already being done by a successful commercial application, only doing it cheaper and very well.
Success can be measured in a couple ways. One as a current state of affairs, two as end product. For current state of affairs you have a set of goals, whether they are world domination or simpley a tool to copy files from one location to another. Two is the infamous does it scratch the itch? If it does what you want, then it is successful.
Could be they are also intimidated by the "men" that are in CS. However I don't know about that. Business major are usually a bunch of sexist pigs as well, for instance.
I think you are onto something here. Look at the hobbies that a lot of CS guys have: anime (porn), newgroups (porn), web (porn), video games (soft porn), porn (getting redundent here huh?).
Maybe women find porn sexist, perverted, unwholesome. But consider how prevelant it is even here on slashdot, which is usually considered a geek tech site. You would be hard pressed to find an article's comments not including link sexist comments. Sure, the signal to noise ratio goes to pot on public sites, but here its terrible.
Just a couple days ago there was an article about women getting into gaming and there were so many sexist remarks as replies to it. My wife and I chatted about it (she reads here also) and she simpley doesn't enjoy many games that come out now. Why? Nearly _EVERY_ game that has some sex object, er scantilly clad 13 year old boy dream, in it. Is that absolutely necessary? My wife, who loves games has a hard time finding games that are fun for her because of it.
Is she being overly sensitive? I don't think so. I think a more likely senario is that many women feel that way. Why would they want to always be treated like a sex objects. Sure, they want to feel sexy sometimes, but when the whole atmosphere around computers only has women treated as play things, it would be hard to get respect.
I got her a couple years ago. I've heard rumors that there is another woman in computer science, I presume that its the woman who posted this ask slashdot.
Combine this parent post and its parent and you really redefine SCSI don't you?

I'd love to see him have to answer this one. :-)
MS will still not have proper PNG transparency in IE?
Just now its ISO official?

This is an apple.slashdot.org post, that should be iObject, not i object.
Presumabley in candy bar wrappers and the unwashed software engineers. Right?

Damn, my life long dream of working at Microsoft for a dickhead like you is shattered forever. Guess I'll have to get on with my life.
Note to mods: not implying all folks at Microsoft are dickheads, only implying the parent poster is.
I've got answers...

Gee, that's about as clever as laughing at IBM's:

Two points for you.
The PA message boards have a worse signal to noise ratio than slashdot. I'm amazed.
Too narrow.

Victoria's real secret is that she is a crime lord? Makes sense since the clothing she sells really do not conceal too mny secrets.
