  2. Easy money on Your State University Doesn't Want You · · Score: 2

Pennsylvania has got to be a forerunner in all of this. The state run/subsidized colleges seem to have a heavy preference to those with a fatter check. Then again, why shouldn't they be? Those same kids are also eligible for more grants and by adding minorities and foreign students to their undergraduate portfolio the college can get additional state and federal funding. At the same time the "higher" tuition those kids pay for a heavily paid for by some group other than the actual student.

I say we let them merge, then bust AT&T up again into 7 little companies to see who gobbles who up. The prices for competition will be good for about 5 - 6 years and we will all get to see some good commercials and not to mention some really cool logos! It's the new way of entertaining the rich and the poor can sit helplessly while they are brainwashed into believing one company is actually better than another...

Maybe they should just be assigned an accountant to help them INVEST their money made at their peak. If they didn't make enough, then yes, get a job. It's rather sad that you can do nothing in life and complain about it, then have people sympathize with you about it to the point of giving you a larger allowance to do nothing.

  9. Re:Not just the problems of today on Mr. President, There Is No (US) Engineer Shortage · · Score: 1

In real life terms, I believe this is more of our society (US) believing that there is real value in servicing and IP than there is in actually creating new tools that will continue humanities march into the future. We seem to be at a point where only profits are motives, actual research is put on the backburner because it is very difficult to prove it's profit value in the NEAR future. So in terms of educating society and our youth, it's as if there is a "satisfaction" that we can maintain our livelihood at the current pace without actually pursuing anything endearing to us.
