  1. S Corps are the way to go on Tech Or Management Beyond Age 39? · · Score: 1

Another reason to do an "S" incorporation is that there will be tax increases coming, probably on the income tax side in the next few years. We do have to pay the Chinese interest at some point.

If you don't incorporate, you are considered "rich" and will likely be hit hard. If you incorporate you can get even bigger tax breaks as you will pay yourself just enough to "not be rich" and still have money to invest into your business, which is what profits are meant for.

I also don't see that the government will close that so called "loophole" (as some from the extreme left call it). If you thought the outrage on the Wall Street bailouts was something, the outrage on additional targeted taxation on S corporations (small businesses) and letting the other corporations get away with no additional taxation will be deafening. Trying to kill small businesses by taxation during this economy is a sure way to make unemployment figures skyrocket and a sure way to have a one-term Presidency.

If you've had a succession of bosses who are so bad you can't work with them in multiple businesses, then I would say part of the problem is staring at you in the mirror. You have to learn to work with mediocre managers. There are few ideal managers. Many of those leave the politicking needed in management behind and become consultants. What you are stuck with, as far as managers go, are the merely good, the bad, and the ugly.

This is not an apples-to-apples comparison.

There are some good municipalities water and power companies and there are some that are not.

I don't hear much in the way of complaints about local, state, and federal governments building highways and local streets. Somehow that is OK while building a public ISP is not?

Our society has gone from having computer networks for just businesses to a needed service to function.

If you don't believe me, you don't have children in a decent public school. Study material, research, and lessons are increasing being posted on the internet. The internet is now almost as needed as roads for our society.

Internet is no longer an elite privilege in our society, it is now somewhere between a privilege and a right. It that wasn't so why do local libraries give internet access to their patrons?

Oh, I forgot, the purists don't believe in libraries or public schools of any kind. I remember in history that America tried to restrict higher education, healthcare, and even decent food to those that can afford to pay for them. If you got miner's lung in a coal mine or broke your back with the railroad then you might die of your injuries or of starvation because "no job = no food". The result was widespread outbreaks of typhoid and yellow fevers, not to mention tuberculosis, and low life expectancies. That happened in the 19th century, when the rich people and corporations were free from oppressive taxes and the public was free from most government "interference" like well paved roads and clean water. Our state and federal governments still have some "oppressive" control over its citizens via libraries, the post office, public schools, and law enforcement.

I don't mind immigrants, I object to the H1B visa program making immigrants "non-immigrants". Real immigrants are legal, they tend to be motivated to succeed in America, and have made innumerable contributions to America.

H1B visa holders can only stay in America a short time and many of them do "drone" work for insane work hours. They could be brilliant or dull but the fact is that our companies are using them as disposable employees.

We should trash that program and setup a longer term immigration program where they have to choose leaving, becoming a citizen, or becoming a permanent alien resident. Then they would have more of a chance to contribute and a chance of receiving a fair wage.

We buy patch cables out of convenience but we can make our own custom cables (the odd 145' cable) when warranted.
