Games are weird creatures. Always pushing the limits of hardware, and as a result making for quite the game of whack-a-mole for wine.
That may be true, but it is only a matter of time till most game makers begin testing their APPs in Wine, and making them compatible ON RELEASE. Then you will see many gamers rushing to switch to Linux. Aside from that, there are already several software products, besides WINE, than can already play most games right out of the Box. Some great WINE inspired products are: CEDEGA and CROSS OVER. You have to pay for these products, but 99% of the games I have played with them work flawlessly!

Just install Ubuntu. Then download VirtualBox from www.sun.com. Then install XP or Vista within Linux and boot up only when you need to run something that requires windows, like games.
Spend your days surfing the internet on the Ubuntu side, safe in the knowledge that you won't get any viruses. Only load up Windows when you game. I have been doing this for 6 months now. Everything runs EVEN smoother than it did when I used Vista as my primary OS. Plus it is so funny seeing windows booting up within Linux as a B*tch OS. Windows becomes the Biatch of Ununtu. Problems Solved!:)

That is the same argument I always hear from Windows users. I also always hear the argument that Windows is less safe because more people use it and write viruses for it. Even if more people used Linux there would not be as many viruses, or even any EFFECTIVE viruses written for Linux. The reason that this is true is because Windows is a different beast. Windows is a patchwork of coding, a Frankenstein monster of sloppy code pieced together with holes everywhere. Windows was originally a sloppy copy of an OS written by Apple. It is a COPY. A Sloppy copy.
Use a Mac or Linux on a PC and you are safe 99.9999 % of the time. I have been using a distro of Linux for 4 years now, and have never gotten a virus while using Linux.

Just switch to Firefox, Opera, Or Safari already. MS is not telling anyone to do this. Common sense is telling people to do this.
