    In researching/discussing the different Hybrids, we've determined that both the Prius and Volt are Parallel hybrids; meaning they can run on battery or ICE. The Honda hybrid though is a Series design; meaning that the ICE must run to get anywheres. If you're looking for mileage, buy the normal Civic and get the same mileage with lower emmisions instead of the added complexity.

    If I were in the market I'd stick with the Volt model for now. It just makes more sense to have that ICE tether

    This is the direction we're figuring on going depending on whether we can get the Volt. I like the styling a bit better then the Prius and the battery range is well within our daily usage. One thing I caught after Hurricane Katrina was that someone had their Prius equiped with an Inverter Pack (dealer option) that allowed the car to function as a UPS system for his house. Meant they didn't have to evacuate and only needed to refuel after 2 weeks, when things stabilized to the point that he could.

    The law is pretty much the same in every state in regards to Child Abuse. In this case, I agree with the system that the individual should have been reported, especially if it was a Church owned computer. If it was owned by the individual, then there's a difference of opinion unless the individual was using the church network connection.

    What I suspect is that in another couple of generations is when we'll start seeing the real benefit of AMD's design.

    Some points to think about

    1. APU = FPU
    2. GPU != FPU
    3. Power Consumption

    I suspect AMD is moving back towards the slot based board designs (Slot A) and putting the entire computer onto a card. The only thing a mobo will need to provide are things like the ancillary connections such as memory/sata/usb/firewire and the back plane such as HDMI/DP/Thunderbird all else is going to be almost a SoC design as we're already seeing with HDMI audio in the latest Radeon Drivers. Hell most cards have an HDMI port that includes audio for connection to your HD TV. That means fewer back plane/mobo connections.

    It seems that all of the damn MBA's have convinced people that saving a few cents per million units is the way to go. What I'd suggest in regards to customer service is do what the OEM's aren't doing and simply include a physical set of recovery media. This way if they have to replace a failed drive, they've got some way of doing it.

    As someone who's had drives fail on OEM hardware (out of warranty) I've always appreciated having physical media. Another issue is that of Virus/Malware infections. I've actually seen brand new systems with virus/malware on the recovery partitions and you can't clean them w/o a full wipe/repartition and if you're going that far, you may as well have physical media to do the job right. Another thing is to include dban with the main recovery disk setup to offer the option to Puke & Nuke the System. If you do that, then don't forget the Warning/Reminder to Backup before Nuking from Orbit.

    From an end-user standpoint, I'd love to see the option to do a secure wipe before system restore so I can sell/donate an old system and not have to worry that any of My personal data is still on it.

    I'd think that it would be more sensible to use an existing standard form factor such as M-Atx/Itx for the boards due to the tooling already being available. Simply put, the only issue you'd have is what internal connectors (sata/ide/floppy/firewire/usb) are needed along with the backplane ports, video, usb, ethernet being the most obvious. Then design the board to provide the needed connectivity and be done with it. The main advantage is not reinventing the damn wheel and getting a standard board into the hands of the devs as quickly as possible. Hell you could even go with surface mounting of the cpu and make it non removable/upgradable to avoid incompatibility issues. Includea a PCI-E slot for video or just use one of the AMD/Nvidia mobile GPU's as used in laptops to solve that issue and you'd have an ARM development machine in the hands of the devs within 6 months at the most.
