This is extremely old news. It would be interesting to know if that tech has been enabled for more than Win10 and Nvidia GPUs by now.

All browser vendors have a way to contact Adobe and report bugs and whatnot. The Flash related lock-ups have been happening for a long time now and I'm pretty sure it's the #1 reason people are moving to Chrome.

Saying that it's Flash's fault won't mean anything to the average user. They'll see a site lock up in FF and see the same site work fine in Chrome and that's all that will matter.

You are as clueless as you accuse the parent poster to be. XPCOM is not used for plug-in, NPAPI is. It's the same API that was used in the Netscape days. Even MS used to use that API for early versions of IE before they moved to ActiveX in a ploy to hurt Netscape on plugin compatibility.

You are confusing WebGL with acceleration of the web page rendering done in IE, FF and Chrome. They are completely different things. WebGL is an API web devs can use to draw 3D stuff.

Hardware acceleration is all done under the hood and doesn't use WebGL (it uses DirectX or OpenGL and is not called in any way by the web developer.

  19. Re:Slow! -- XP user? on Firefox 4 Released! · · Score: 1

This is not true. FF4 uses DirectX9 on XP to accelerate the compositing / rendering of web content.

The only time when it uses software rendering is when your graphics drivers are not recent enough, and that's true for both XP and Win Vista / 7. the one thing Vista and 7 have over XP is support DirectWrite, which is part of DirectX 10 so of course, doesn't work on XP.
