"Create job abd raise the standard of living in both countries".
This statement is only true if you count the rich getting richer in the US. I fail to see how losing your middle class income job to outsourcing raises your stadard of living.
"or there is some kind of flash-player type add-on made for Firefox to support h264"
Flash already uses the h.264 codec for video so there is no need for anything more. And you won't have to switch to another browser because as long as there is no universal codec standard accross browsers, sites like YouTube will continue to use Flash, at least as a fallback method.
The reason FF progressively uses more memory is that the DOM is wrapped in XPCOM. Since XPCOM is reference counted, it cannot properly be garbage collected by the JS engine. Microsoft has the same approach for IE. Supposedly, one of the project gols for 4.0 is to remove XPCOM bindings for the DOM so that all garbage collection uses the same scheme. In theory, this should greatly reduce the memory bloat.
I'm a web developer and sometimes I only have to target Firefox and I've never been able to figure out how to use an SVG file in an HTML document. It's not supported by the IMG tag, you can can't use it as a CSS background, etc. It's a confusing as hell technology that hasn't taken off because figuring out how to use it on a page is way too complicated.
I have recently installed K-Develop and there was a total lack of project templates for different kinds of applications. By templates, I means a project file, make file and boilerplate skeleton code to start with.
I have font memories of Visual Studio giving me project templates for all manners of COM libraries, GUI apps, NT services, etc. Likewise, I would like to have templates for K-Parts, for whatever the KDE COM equivalent is, for Plasma widgets and full flegged GUI apps.
"It's not feasible to download every single open source project and start a diff against every single file they contain, so how do you do it?"
Wrong. Computers are powerful enough to run various search algoriths to find similarities in code. As a matter of fact, I'd be surprise if no one already created and marketed surch a tool to check for non-legit code. Any other finding of the sort is otherwise the product of pure chance that who reviewed the code had seen it somewhere else.
"It's utterly ignorant to believe trends will continue indefinitely in a linear manner. We're in a global recession caused in large part by this destructive thinking."
This thinking has nothing to do with why there is a global recession.
I still use Win2k because it is faster and uses much less memory than XP than anything MS has released after it, yet the vast majority of people changed to newer versions. The same could be said of every Windows release before that. I don't see why it would be different this time around.
Governments in Canada have methodically dismantled the public healthcare system for the last 20 years. A lot of it was privatized. The superiority of our heathcare system (I'm a Canadian) is no longer true but the US perception of it has not really kept up with reality.
I'm in Montreal too and I use AEI.ca Costs me 29.99 per month for the same thing you get from Electronic Box. (I purchased the modem so I don't have to pay an extra modem rental fee).
Most of the time, laws are are written that way intently so that those companies that made campaign contribution (To both Democrats and Republican... smart companies give to both to make sure they get contracts and crappy self serving laws like that).

I hope this is about Goldman Sachs!

You can tear out tabs in FF like the rest of those browsers.

Except that Mozilla is a US company so your theory doesn't make sense.
Do a search for 'The Young Turks" on YouTube and you'll find another one.
From the summary: "...one of humanity's most bizarre environmental slip-ups".
And by humanity, you mean Americans right? (and perhaps Canadians)

Very good point.

I agree with everything you said.

You can legally install Windows on any PC you buy. Not with OS X. Apple and Microsoft are all about control

Thanks for the info. I sent them a letter.
Bell make more than enough money to both maintain and enhance the infrastucture it was given the *priviliedge* to administer. Your argument is bogus.
