    Wasn't it something like 386, 486/i486, Pentium.

iirc, they stuck the "i" in front after the whole "Our numbers are trademarks" thing. I think they then used Pentium because the judge said "i486? You got to be joking. Nope, you can't trademark that either" (or words to that effect.)

I remember a time when "pent" = 586, but now "pentIV" = 886. Yeah, that makes sense.

But then again, WinME = win ver 4.2 or something. *shrug*, guess the whole world is slowly being taken over by marketroids and lawyers.

This and this link should give you some good information. The first one is for the Modern Laplacian Theory, which is my personal favorite, and the second gives some quick information on some other formation theories, and talks a little bit about Bode's law.

I saw somewhere else that people were talking about vulcan. If memory serves, I think that vulcan was the name given to the planet inside mercurys orbit. This planet was predicted by using Bode's law, and searched for in the 1800's (I think?). I guess it was a kind of cold fusion of the day :)

But I have very fond memories of a Doom II patch that someone got for us. It let you fire the double barrel shotgun VERY fast with unlimited ammo.

This was great, as we all had this insane gun, made for REALLY fast gaming action. Turn the game speed up 250% and you've got an insane frag-fest. Things just happend so quickly. Try it sometime, really gets the blood pumping :)

No-one ever camped, because that got boring real fast. The players worked out what you were doing and just didn't go there, and the trick was to keep moving, you got so many more frags going to them rather than sitting back and waiting!

Is Puerto Rico a 1st world country? Doesn't this mean that there is money being spent there that normally wouldn't?

Stopping progress doesn't help anyone. Sure if we all shared it would be a lovely world, but people don't. They are greedy. sure, they give a few bucks here and there, but how many people do you let into the USA or Australia every year?

Our PM tells us that Australia is going great, but not that great that we can let people stay that have no homeland.

Why do we send them back? Because our quality of life will go down. People say: I want to help the starving people of the world, but god forbid that I can't buy that 68" TV and DVD for the bathroom.

If (when?) we do find something, could you imagine what would happen to the people on the planet? We are not alone... I like to think that it might unite us a bit more than we are now. And if there isn't life out there, doesn't that prove how fragile and precious life is here, and maybe we might start to look after it a bit better. I think that Carl Sagan made some points like that.

The only alternative for most people is to make a long distance call to the nearest major center, which can get just as pricey!

I now live in Sydney, and have cable. I'm paying the same money (per month) for a far better service. There is a very big divide between rural and urban areas in Australia, so anything that can help people connect and provided them with information that they need is great!
