Too bad they didn't keep the name MOZILLA. I was so excited a couple years ago when they announced they were opensourcing the code to start the Mozilla project. I really thought, "The world must be changing."
Since then I have found myself deeper and deeper into OpenSource projects. I hold the philosophy close to my heart. I believe that our movement could really make a difference. Minds are changing everyday. I have a whole family I have pulled into Linux. They eat it up! My little brother is learning Perl and C++ to join into some projects as well.
Thank you to all the developers who have put sooo much time into this project. The world appreciates it!
Oh yeah...WELCOME BACK CMDRTACO! How was vacation?
I feel fortunate that a decision like this has been made. Now if only we can pull everyone else in and change people's sorry patent/copyright attitudes.
I am dumbfounded to read something like this on slashdot. How can you refer to races as lesser or inferior? Regardless of how advanced a culture is, it doesn't mean that they are inferior. It is unfortunate that these people don't have the luxuries that we do. Everyone moves along at their own pace. If it takes some people centuries longer to learn something that others have already mastered, then so be it.
If you think about it, we are standing on the shoulders of giants today. The technologies that we all take for granted today were formed by someone else's hard work and creativity. What this world needs is better communication. We need to reach out to the rest of the world and teach them what we have learned. We don't need to push our ideals or religous beliefs on them. I certainly don't think that biotechnology is the answer. I hope we aren't trying to re-engineer the human race. We need to celebrate our differences and learn from each other.
I am so happy the Y2K hype s finally over. I had to threaten to quit to get out of working...my boss is an MCSE with ZERO experience in this industry...so he wanted the whole IS staff on site. As my favorite pseudo writer Kilgore Trout would say "Tingaling you son of a bitch!"
I need to go nurse my headache now...
HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL THE/. READERS/POSTERS (and the rest of the world.)
This week I was faced with the death of my grandmother and the death of a couple of friends. I guess I am starting to learn the value of friends and family. At the risk of sounding cliche...sometimes you really don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.
I don't have a devote faith to any religion. I was raised Jewish by my step father. But by choice I am more a Humanist. I try to behave decent and morally without any expectation of reward or punishment in the after life. I have been doing a great deal of reflecting this week and next year I am going to start living more for the moment. I will try to appreciate what I have more, and never hold back the truth.
This Christams/Hannukah/Festivus/WinterSolstice/NewYear s tell your family and friends that you love them. Tell them how much they mean to you. Don't waste a second you have with them. Don't panic for Y2K...Don't stock pile guns and ammo...Don't contribute to the hysteria. Don't take life for granted. Have a wonderful day today...and a wonderful week before the new millenium. See you all in postings.
It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. I am surprised that scour.net has gotten away with it as long as they have. I enjoy both applications, however it it blatantly obvious that illegal songs are being traded. I think fighting mp3's is a lost cause. The RIA should focus on something more important...like a new service or procust that encourages us to buy more music. Offer something that cannot be duplicated. I don't think that encryption is the only measure...obviously that doesn't last long... enhanced cd's were neato... i enjoy them when I happen to come across one. I think going after Napster and he kids that trade these songs is the wrong approach. Unfortunately I don't know what the right approach is either. --- jaxn
i had a geek girl i used to do things like that for but i lost her today... NEVER DATE A GIRL WHO IS STILL DATING SOMEONE IN ANOTHER CITY... IT GETS WAY TOO F*CKED UP! sorry for that outburst.... it was much needed.
i just got a job offer in orlando. i'm in fort myers, fl now. my salary is only 40k for data/voice network administrator. i am responsible for the data/voice connectivity in house and at our four bureaus. we have 500 plus nodes ont he network. we have 600 plus phones. i am certified with nortel for their meridian line of pbx's...and i am working on my first level of cisco certification. the job offer in orlando isn't for much more than i make now. florida isn't a hot spot of tech jobs by any means... you can make ohtay money in bigger cities like tmpe, miami and orlando... but for my town... i can't get much better than this... unless i consult again.... but that can mean long hours and no benfits... where do you guys think it's really at? which state/region/city? always looking....
