    While at it, how much time does a player get to look at the cube before beginning to actually change its configuration in Rubik cube tournaments and world records (e.g. before the chronometer starts) ?

    Well, unless they just take a single snap shot before they actually press the start button and go from there. Thinking of it, that's probably what they do. Maybe they wait for the start button to get pressed before taking the snap shot, that would be interesting to know...

    I wonder how much optimization they could still do. One thing I can think of is the web cams used to monitor progress. They don't mention they are anything special. Maybe lab type cams could reduce latency.

    Damn, I didn't know that, you have just trashed my project. I have been working for 3 years on a concept where Ethernet cables would be used to transmit power on the power grid thus saving on copper wires costs. I intended 2000 MW. What a bummer...

    Well, I am pretty old school but I have to admit I drink a bit of coffee. I can catch up on the sleep I need afterward by sleeping 18 to 24 hours in a row so in the end I sleep as much as you do if not more.

    See the reply above where the poster mention that there is actually studies about people able to work in long stretches. He says that you are actually born like that when you can do it.

    Now we would need to find out what percentage of procrastinators are able to work in long stretches and vice-versa then, try to establish if there is any relation between the 2.

    Procrastination led me to be able to code for 24 hours or more in a row while staying productive. Handy when an unplanned emergency occurs. Some co-workers wonder how I can do it.

    I have to a point where I don't react to such event that much...

    I get more concerned with stuff like Heartbleed or Shellshock and other security updates.

    I run my own Linux router at home and in the data center. I would never use the ones provided by the provider.

    2) hack nuclear plant
