Well i know your comment was meant in jest but i dont know about that, I too have a cousin terribly addicted to WoW, so much so that he's almost unbarable to be around, if you're at his house, wow is always on, team speak going randoms from around the world talking int he background, and when you pry him out of the house he talks of nothing else.. however he recently got a girlfriend he MET IN WOW. Now hes obsessed with both WoW AND his new found womanly obsession, so i dont think sex is the whole answer... It tipped me over the edge and i havent been able to see/talk to him since, it just anoys me too much:(
from that wiki link - "The most common side effects of lithium are thirst and polyuria."
So lithium in the water would make people drink more water and get more lithum which makes them drink more water and get more... oh the humanity!
could explain to me why we already have 2 cable networks that could be running at 100mbps already (telstra cable at my place is a bit over 30 atm) and theres never been much if any willingess by anyone to expand the network over the last 10 years or so?
I understand the old "oh but its shared" argument to the technology but arent all broadband infrastructures shared at some point? Is the performance that detrimental compared to others or is it an old wives tale?
I'm just curious what would be the cons of just expanding the already existing cable network that has two revenue streams already up and running (tv and internet)? As far as i know Telstra have already said their cable network will be running at 100mbps in Victoria this year with the other states to follow.
Wouldnt it make more sense, be cheaper (and i admit less "future proof") to encourage not only people onto cable for the speed but ontop i think they'd be more enclined to take up pay tv as well if they were bundled in some way also with some sort of voip service (i remember the trial of this like 5 years ago and then heard nothing more of it) so you get everything on the one cable at the same time, i'm kinda puzzled as to why this has never happened?
To thank the maker for his work? This wasn't just a dirty port with an almost unusable interface like quake etc (last time i tried it it may have improved). Some work actually went into making it playable, the configurable interface and sensitivy lets you get it working just right for your style and it actually plays quite well. I've got no problems giving JC some pocket change for not just bringing the game to the iphone but actually making it fun/easy to play.
I've had all 3 OS's on my mac mini which is no performance power house, so load times etc are noticable and i have to say windows 7 beta seems to run faster on it than any other OS I've used (including the latest ubuntu and osx).
I havent done any exact testing to confirm because i'm not that anal but i think the doubting thomas' will be suprised
I think Kevin Smith put it best when recounting his tale of working with Prince, as he quoted one of his assitants "Prince has been living in Prince world for quite some time"
I think its pretty clear from any casual observer of his behaviour he does have a total disconnect with a reality in the same way i think Michael Jackson and many other wealthy celebrities have who become recluses and lock themselves in ivory towers away from the so called "meanness" of the world they constantly blame for their problems.
That said i must admit I am a very big fan of Prince's music.. I am in awe of his musical talent, but as a person, i dont idolise him.
Also the chances of record companies putting him up to this are slim to none, hes had no official ties to a record company for many years, only dealing with them with single cd deals for distribution rights on his albums that barely sell these days through the regular retail channels
Hardly centuries, it just ticked over 1. Not to be confused with the ancient olympics, the modern olympics started in 1894, It didnt really become a money making event until the Los Angeles organisers showed you could turn a profit by commercialising the living hell out of it in 1984. And then the downward spiral began;)
what MS meant by saying they listen to their customer is - A petition is just an for malcontents with an axe to grind not reliable "evidence" that their customers are saying anything.
If the first question on the petition was "have you ever paid for a copy of XP or ever used Vista?" there'd prolly be 5,000 signatures:P
At first i figured the same as many of you.. what an intensely idiotical idea.
But then i thought about the international uproar if well known landmarks like this of a cultural signifigance around the world were not protected and left to further deteriorate in the supposedly increasingly toxic environment and no research funded into the protection and origins etc etc etc
I have no idea of the numbers and money involved.. but I'm guessing the Egyptian government has to pay for this somehow, and im sure tourism alone would cover the large majority of the costs, and you could argue its in their own self interests to protect their own "asset" and keep the tourists pouring in.. But I'm sure most people will agree they have a responsibility to "us", by that i mean the global community, to make sure they are protected, maintained and researched
Maybe copyright isnt the best angle to be going at it, but surely if we expect the egyptian government to maintain these sorts of sites while other people continue to earn a profit off images of it and so on.. surely there has to be some part that goes to its preservation?
Just my idle musings tho.. i dont know any details of how its already preserved and paid for and so on but would be interested to find out.

Cousin Dale: Naw, but my dad does. Can't even sit on the toilet some days.
-National Lampoon's Vacation
the file has an .avi or .mp3 on the end?
Technically the Daily Mail paid him a few million ( I forget the exact figure ) for the oppertunity, and then they gave it away for free :)
:P
So i'm guessing he'd still be upset if someones giving it away for free without paying him first
