BTW Why would you want to embed video in a Word doc anyway?!? I mean what do you think's gonna happen when you print it? Gee, my video is broken...I wonder why?

The word "freedom" has been bastardized and has become so meaningless due to americans' Orwellian over-use and misuse that it's almost become an epithet unto itself. Sort of like what the homosexuals have done to the word "gay"...now they appear to have "pride" in their sights too.

There's a fundamental flaw in your analogy (often used by the "copying is theft" crowd): Information is not real property and the two should never be compared. A more correct analogy would be for you to scan your neighbour's Lambourghini and replicate a copy for yourself (BTW I believe that there are kits available that allow you to do basically that, and Lambourghini doesn't see one dime).

BTW as far as "sides agreeing" goes, I don't recall EVER being asked when big media companies took it upon themselves to award themselves ridiculous copyright extensions. Continuing with your line of reasoning, IMO they are already operating outside the current so-called "social contract".

They've been given it away for free for years on the radio. I can go over to my friend's place and listen to his music for free. Plus the whole concept of receiving payment for recordings of music was unheard of, prior to the advent of recording technology. Prior to that, musicians got paid when they played...to an audience. Now the ability to mass replicate digital media across a shared network has rendered the "payment for recordings" model obsolete, which had in turn made obsolete a different model. How does guilt even enter into the picture? There is no guilt. "Guilt" in this instance is an artifical construct of the record industry, trying to stave off obsolescence.

  6. Bullshit on Microsoft to Disable Online Windows Activation · · Score: 1
Jupiter Research senior analyst Joe Wilcox said the change shouldn't affect many PC buyers. "Seeing as how the typical OEM would normally preactivate Windows XP, most legitimate users shouldn't have much need to go through the activation process," noted Wilcox.

Bullshit. While the vendors we buy systems from ship with Windows installed, but one is still required to enter the install key and activate within 30 days.

I've got an activation removal tool and damned if I'm not going to start using it! Piss on 'em...I've got better things to do than wait on the phone, besides I have a strong aversion to doing business with anyone who enters our business relationship entertaining the presumption that I am going to steal from them.

I DL'd Pearl Harbour and after watching it blew it off my hard drive and contemplated sending a bill to the MPAA for wasting my time with that crap.

They can also get rid of frigging Goonies and replace it with something decent like The Usual Suspects, which I notice didn't make list! An unforgiveable ommission (as was The Unforgiven:-P).

I also notice that the fanboys managed to push LOTR into the #1 spot...Yes, the LOTR trilogy was enjoyable and deserves to be on the list, but #1?!? No chance in hell...

There are also a ton of other classic movies that should be here and aren't. Thanks, but I'll stick to The Filthy Critic for recommendations as to what's worth watching.

If that ain't pandering to the kiddies, than what is? Of course Lucas is gearing his movies to the kids and the reason should be obvious: There's a ton of additional money to be made licensing and merchandising Star Wars Toys, and you don't market that stuff to grown-ups (except as the would-be buyers for their whining offspring).
