I don't know the numbers, but I'd be willing to bet that the number of warranty repairs that Microsoft is having to perform are beginning to affect the profit that Xbox sales generates.
The truly funny thing I see in all of this, aside from MS's continuance to hold their breath 'til they get their way, is that by taking on Red Hat I believe they've inadvertently threatened Oracle as well. If I'm not mistakened Oracle redistributes their own version of the Red Hat code base, correct?
What? They got RIM to settle so they think they can extort the telco's? Someone needs to tell NTP that when it comes to courtroom extortion no one can beat a US telco. They freakin' invented, perfected and institutionalized the practice.
What scandal?! Where?!?

AMD NDA Scandal

· Score: 2, Interesting
An NDA by a chipmaker is considered a scandal? Really? Watergate; that was a scandal! My mother smoking my stash in high-school while I was in class? THAT was a (horribly ironic) scandal! But this? This isn't a scandal. It's barely news.
And, no, it does not, in any way, impinge your constitutional right. If you don't believe look it up on the...wait for it...'Net somewhere.
Sure, I was a little alarmed about the Feeb's having the ability to point-and-click into existence a wiretap. Then I read this part of the article and my fears faded away;
"..but they show that DCSNet includes at least three collection components, each running on Windows-based computers."
Windows? Really? Yeah, good luck with that, gov.
I'm sorry, my friend, but linking to the original article doesn't make the quote by Peter Brown any less true. Slashdot quoted him accurately. Statements such as that frustrate me simply because it shows that the future of open-source is being led by zealots, not reasonable men of clear thought and intelligence. In the future Mr. Brown might want to fact check his mouth before opening it.

Ah. Thanks, ndot. Knowing the context in which the post was...er, posted, helps.
I was wondering where Jeeve's went after leaving Ask. Apparently he changed his freakin' name to ChaCha.
