my 10mb connection transfers large amounts of data just fine.
the only thing more efficient than bit torrent is a unthrottled server on a DS / OC line.
Most linux gurus don't know shit about anything other than linux and that makes them pretty much useless outside of a server environment. The people supporting friends / family are people like me that use Win / Lin / OS X. Not linux assholes who preach about their superior yet inferior O/S.
The only true quality in an apple is the quality of the bullshit its users spew.
I had an apple user telling me how cover flow is so bad ass and when I showed him Harmony (for Vista) he was like "O copying Apple - blah de blah blah".
Guess what - Apple didn't even make cover flow - they bought it from a developer and labeled it their own. The entire Apple bubble is built on hype. OS X is not superior to jack shiz. The only advantage it has over anything else is its ability to be over priced and over hyped.
Who in the world buys hardware @ walmart? When you buy @ newegg and assemble yourself you get 5x the machine for 1/2 the price. If you buy from a computer manufacturer your showing your capabilities right there. If you buy a laptop - and your not a mobile user - your really just an ass hat with a laptop. Regardless of who made said laptop.
last time i checked i could buy an apple without osx or a sun box without solaris.
why not just be upfront with your intentions and state that you want linux to dominate like windows has so the countless linux users can finally have bragging rights.
the hard truth is linux will never take over desktops. possibly in third world countries that can't afford to purchase retail OS's - but thats about it.
That relates to Dell selling laptops with Ubuntu how?
Oh btw, I used to work for silicon graphics but I'm so glad I have a @igotfiredfromsilicongraphics.com email address.
The only time a trojan is attached to an exe is when your installing crap you have no business using.
The last time I saw a trojan exe was AOL circa 1997 in my inbox - funny enough I just deleted it.
Usually linux users get trojans when they crack windows software so they get what they needed to do done cause it doesn't have a valid counterpart worth using in Linux ala Adobe Anything.....
After reading this LOL'able thread I thought I would respond. For the record I run Vista Ultimate X64 @ work setup to VT with Ubuntu Edgy and Open Suse 10.2. I'm a big linux user and its the basis of my job almost day in and day out within the server world. (yes i also use it as a desktop).
Anyways - I wanted to say that 90% of the problems all the hardcore linux nerds are bringing up don't even happen. I use Vista Ultimate as my main O/S - it runs perfectly and I have yet to have a single lock up, crash, or major problem. The change from XP to Vista is a very large one and I can not wait till my home system can run it.
I did run into the issue of lots of security prompts. However some people can't read manuals or Microsofts site - so they don't understand how to - EASILY - customize how those security features work. They make absolute sense for 99% of basic computer users out there who have no idea of what a security risk is.
Anyways - I really wanted to say that I would rather deal with prompts ALL day long rather than sit in package dependency hell ALL day long. For example has anyone ever setup Amarok on Suse 10.2? If not you should. It took me 2 days and 40 additional package installs including removal of Suse distributed packages and installation of packages from packman so that features like - mp3 playback - could be achieved.
Last time I checked installing Winamp was 4 clicks and 5 minutes tops - installing Amarok was about 400 times longer. Anyone that thinks linux is the answer, or even Ubuntu (woops - the new kernel doesn't like P/S2 devices - manually patch your kernel...) is living in a friggin fantasy world.
Linux has so many hurdles and roadblocks in its way that it would be simply amazing to see it be on more desktops than say, OSX. While Linux makes sense for strong computer users it makes very little sense for anyone else. Until then lets all bash Vista when we haven't even used it cause we are bunch of fanboy tools.

its not like there won't be a thousand other clones as VT hardware becomes more prevalent. my advice is to not hold your breath on making bank.
