The only way it could get restored is if I had executables or scripts I used in my userspace, which I don't. The only way something could get started would be if KDE or gnome wanted it to, which is what settings I'd delete... It's ridiculously easy to get rid of this type of infection.
It's for high school students. A bit older, hopefully smarter. Wouldn't you agree that being able to see all the cogs and gears of something you use daily might inspire some sort of interest? Making those black boxes the students see everyday into a puzzle to work out? "Don't touch that!/You aren't allowed!/Sit still and be quiet!" don't foster any sort of intelligence, we're all animals and animals learn by exploring their surrounding. Guarding plans and secrets of your trade isn't viable anymore. (The dark ages called, they want their guild mentality back.)
>Entire layers of which are just wrappers over existing functionality to create bloat Any part of which you can remove from the picture entirely. If you're going to whine about how bloated something is, look at your average OEM windows install, approximate equivalent to a default Linux distro. The difference is, with Linux it takes one line of text and a minute or two to get rid of everything you want. With windows, an hour, lots of hunting around, a lot of involvement from the user.
>The platform that cannot get audio, basic video, wireless working (yeah, that would be linux) OH WELL, I guess that is a problem, this being the 90's and all.
B. is never going to be realized for them, a bit of false hope now isn't too much trouble, is it?
If they start using it, they'll most likely enjoy it over windows. No matter what the reasons they start with, in the long run they get a nice, tinker friendly(it's the learning that matters in most schools), secure piece of software.
That, and having a different OS at home and school promote thinking in different boxes, realizing yours isn't the only box, suddenly you have a more innovative generation.
i find PvP servers more fun and exciting than PvE ones by lightyears. People who whine and complain that they "don't want to fight people when i'm trying to farm ITEM X!!!" don't realize that the motes are so much sweeter when you have to go through that rogue and priest to get them.
The planet that Warhammer is on has the same continent layout as Earth, save a crescent shaped landmass in the atlantic, Ulthuan, that is home to the high elves.
I went out and bought myself a motherboard with 5.1 sound (a gigabyte g33m), and it took nothing to get it working on linux. My nvidia 8500 video card was also running properly with minimal fuss.
So instead of seeing all the gears and cogs of the OS, you'd rather poke around on the outer shell of the thing looking for some way to coax the proper behavior out of it?
That's what I would call hating yourself.
As for costing less to run a windows server, you have to buy the OS and software as well as regular upgrades, which would fully negate the salary of the competent linux admin you would have found for the job.
I write all my best software on mescaline, you insensitive clod!
Nope.
20$

Because that's exactly what they would expect!
If it were not for sex offenders, it might well be that we'd be protecting the children from godless atheists...
For that, I thank them regularly for their service to society.
And don't tell me you are safe in Linux because you aren't running as root. A spambot/advertising-downloader-popup does not need to run as root.
Oh no, I guess I'll have to backup my userspace and start fresh.
*30 seconds later*
Done, what a drag that was.

It's a shame how so many people don't like you...
The number one reason I give people for using Linux is that I like to tinker. I also have an inordinate amount of Lego and K'nex in my basement.
Those little pieces of plastic are sweeeeeeet.
Doubleplusungood, you mean.
They don't get paid anything, they've all retired.

No, never.
Why would that be modded flamebait?
It's true.
8 Million?
I'd do it for a case of jolts and a new beanbag chair.
The same way many people can break windows and continue to use them.

You need to sepll better.
A short anecdote about the hardware myth:

That was the most beautiful statement I've read in a while.
Thank you.
So THAT's where I've heard his name...
