Responsible parents could arguably control Internet access for their children from their house, but not so easily from e.g. WiFi hotspots or libraries.
You should read more carefully: GMO crops are not "contaminating", they are giving "a boon to global biodiversity" – until the natural and traditionally selected species are eradicated or course, but that's not even proved and anyway it will probably take some time, so no need to worry.
And BTW no Nobel prize (even in economy) ever accepts money from corporations.
I'm not sure it's the only problem in that case, but I think it is an important one in general. That's one reason you should pay for voting. I mean proportionally to your income of course, like taxes.
The photograph illustrating the linked article was inadvertently taken from our science story. It is actually a computer aided reconstitution of a supposed profile from an early homo habilis which has been recently discovered and nicknamed "Donald".
We would like to apologize for this unfortunate substitution.
It’s unfortunately the case that software development in general and Open Source communities are frequented by males who have *software* development issues.
Maybe they are afraid women will definitely realize the true value of the stuff they produce.
What would you say if the mason you hired spent 7 hours out of 8 repairing his concrete mixer instead of building your walls? And apart from losing his/her time and efforts to maintain his/her computers, today’s developer has the extra benefit that s/he is building on quicksands.
I wish women could bring back some common sense in this industry.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to install chains of synchronized declutchable treadmills on motorways? With today’s electronic controls wouldn’t it be worth studying? BTW it might make charging easier since the car does not move relative to the treadmill (until it is passed on to the next one).
I don’t know if the biodegradable bags make people sick but at least the ones I know smell strong...
AFAIK, people in Western Europe mostly use reusable bags now, and the single use ones are now sold by the supermarkets as well. I suspect this plastic bag ban story was mainly a commercial coup from the distribution sector, the politicians being cheated, like usual when they are not cheating;-)
The true challenge now is to get rid of the overwhelming plastic packaging (mineral water bottles, milk bottles, blisters and all sorts of superfluous PVC/PET etc.) While we are almost forced to buy that crap which often ends up amidst nature, free plastic bags were only a small component of this tremendous pollution. In France for instance the recycling rate of plastic altogether is only 24%.
This is just an obvious assembly of two existing concepts, three with the battery. Putting together existing devices or concepts does not make an invention, only a product.
If science is what this article is about, I am inclined to evaluate the percentage of scientists in the population to a still much higher value;-)
Same for writers as it seems...
You may steal ideas and boast like mad if in the name of Free Software. You may have companies bankrupt and developers fired if in the name of Free Software.
The industry lawyers will let you do it because you make ground for software patents, and that's exactly were they want to go.
To establish a successful communism, the hardest part would be to convince people that the Easter Bunny doesn't exist.
If you're ashamed to do it then don't do it Or fully live your shame.
These crusty politicans have no idea how the internet works. Sad, really.
Actually the only ideas they may have is about how to be (re)elected. Hopefully they are often plain wrong about this too.

Why endure neighbors dogs and lawn mowers as well as dull daily transportation when you can be free like a Gypsy with mobile Internet?

That's why the referendums must be initiated by the people and NEVER by the governments.

Of course I don't have a virtually unlimited memory like the chess computer programs (and apparently you) may have.
Those chess grandmasters study the same books and tables extensively.
Not while playing.
La recherche est une affaire trop importante pour être confiée à des politiques.
Research is too important a matter to entrust the politicians with.
