    He probably does it to throw off the people who follow him around in discussions to derail the threads about how twitter sucks.

    Can twitter be annoying? Sure, but just as annoying are the people who feel the need to follow up every one of his posts with "Look out, it's Twitter!" or "this post might have been reasonable, but never forget that twitter is an idiot."

    Let his stupid posts get shot down on their own.

    "Over-rated" is the correct moderation to use when a post has been moderated up higher than was deserved.

    That's more of a judgment call though, I wouldn't have wasted mod points though.

    When you call the parent poster a "partisan douchebag" though, expect the -1, Flamebait moderations to come into play.

    Here is why you fail in Linux evangelism, twitter: Not everyone who thinks that the Microsoft competitor to a free software release is the better product is a Microsoft PR drone. To insinuate as such does much to marginalize your own opinions and peoples' trust in them.

    You seemed to have missed the point that with fewer analog channels, they don't need to compress the digital ones as much.

    Of course, they still will. Around here at least, the cable companies are pretty greedy. They're not going to use that spectrum to increase the quality of their digital offerings, they'll simply use that spectrum for more channels or other features.

    What is particularly disgusting about this crew is the snearing contempt they have for anyone who does not share their exact views.

    From someone who has listened to plenty of Fred Thompson editorials on the Paul Harvey show, Fred has definitely learned to inject modest amounts of sneering contempt into his voice. He knows just how well that plays to conservative radio listeners who don't want debate but instead want put-downs of "the other side" or "the enemy."

    Which leaves the question of what the law in this case aims to achieve. Does it want a cultured artistic country with a variety of music. Or a money hungry monopoly, which looks only at what sells, how to screw artists and excuses to ramp up the prices

    Which of the two lobbies Congress and influences committees?

    If you are talking spiderman DVD's, odds are quite high they'll be perfectly recoverable in 20 years.

    You'd be surprised. My Spiderman 2 DVD developed bad sectors as I discovered to my dismay after trying to play it the other night. It was stored pretty carefully too, no scratches or fingerprints..

    Let me tell you, I was completely taken aback by the intensity of the moment of terror that evoked in my coworkers. The unspoken thought was that people don't wear masks unless they're robbing a bank, or something. I immediately took of the mask, apologized profusely, never did it again. I wasn't fired, lectured, or disciplined, but those coworkers were cool toward me for some time. I realized I'd made a serious goof.

    No, you didn't make a goof. Your co-workers were idiots, that's all. Emotional, reactionary, idiots. I suppose not coddling that could be considered a 'goof,' but you hardly did anything wrong by wearing a mask on Halloween.

    NAT sux. it's kind of a hack and it complicates firewalling greatly.

    It does, but it's necessary for political reasons, specifically to get around greedy ISPs that want to charge you more for each device you attach to your DSL/Cable modem. "Oh, you have a home network? Maybe you need our Super-Deluxe or Business-Class service!"

    I've never gotten how pro-immigration implies a desire for cheap labor. The labor is only cheap when it's illegal;

    Most of the discussion of immigration in the United States is over illegal immigration, how much of it there is, and how so many businesses are reliant on paying illegal immigrants below-minimum-wage.
