Of course, this opens you up wonderfully to lawsuits from Gracenotes. I'd say most of the courts would look at this as a "denial of service" attack against them. Of course, if it's just your own DNS servers, more power to you, but if it's an ISP's DNS servers you're mucking with.. well, be careful.
I don't think they're claiming the information is proprietary to them (because clearly the only group it could be proprietary to is the RIAA), but that the protocol used to communicate with the client/server is proprietary. Now this is a chilling path. Outlawing open-source (or even just 'alternative') clients because the DMCA allows you to outlaw any non-approved connections.
I would say that she never got it on with Picard because neither of them wanted to betray her dead husband/his best friend from Academy.
This is not to say that she didn't have fun on shoreleave. That's all undocumented, though.
I guess you didn't see the "Spring Break" Risa special. Poor Wesley. What a terrible way to die. Of course, they resurrected him like they did in that Q episode...
Is that what they're doing for Battlestar Galactica?

Btw, it's an interesting coincidence that you begin talking about "clinging" philosophies. I've just been robbed of my bicycle (30 mins ago) while I was shopping for a Robert Jordan book.
Damned darkfriends, they're everywhere, I tell you. I guess next time you'll spring for the U-lock with the herons on the lock-keys, won't you?:)
Not only does CSS prevent people from making DVD players, it would make it possible to lock out amateur DVD distributors -- putting their own work out on DVD.
How? CSS is not required for a DVD to work. An amateur can distribute his work non-encrypted.
Money is the smallest part of it?!?! To whom!?? Certainly not to a lawyer! And these revolting, disgusting pathetic individuals who are so blatantly going after money and ONLY money are so utterly beneath contempt it near enough makes you sick! A suit worth BILLIONS of dollars ISN'T about the MONEY!?! Oh of course not! Silly fskcing me for thinking that it would be. Billions of dollars and it is OBVIOUSLY for the statement. How could I be so foolish?
No, they have a point. A suit about billions is a suit about punishment. They want to punish the game companies, therefore, they pursue a way for the game companies to lose money, since that's the best way to 'hurt' a company.
The anti tobacco NAZI group, thetruth.com, advocates that people deface, vandalize, and "rip out" any tobacco ads they come across.
I've seen some of those TV ads from "TheTruth" where they advocate ripping out ads from magazines, and there is fine print on the bottom of the screen saying to only rip out ads from magazines you own...
Yes, but does that take into factor the cost-of-living per region? A teacher in Arkansas needs much less to survive than a teacher in San Francisco or New York.
I agree, childeren need social interaction, but they don't need to be subjected to every type of social situation that exists.
They should. They can then be prepared for those situations when they are adults. Children don't need to be introverted and shut off in the ivory towers of the home. They DO need social interaction.
Why to people assume that we should ship our kids off to be in a large mixed group, when in our adult lives we choose nice small comfortable groups?
Correction: We prefer to choose nice small comfortable groups. In reality, we have to deal with all sorts of people and situations that we'd rather not choose to every day.

Actually, I believe the editors of Slashdot have traditionally taken the following attitude: "We don't believe that either the service or the users should be punished, but if the RIAA/MPAA has to be a goon to someone, it makes more sense to go after the infringing users than the service." I don't think I've ever seen the editors advocating a crack-down on users, just that they're better targets than the neutral service.
The MPAA is a private company. They don't have to honor due process.

I can agree with you there. There have been rather simple bugfixes I have submitted that are -still- sitting as "NEW" under Bugzilla... not even assigned.
I think (speculation) that the Ximian installer does not handle very well cases when rpm thinks that the Ximian packages are older than the ones that come with 7.1 (which is the case). I'd have to throw it in a debugger to really see why it's crashing, but I don't have the time.
This sentence is either false as a matter of fact or true by virtue of using words outside their dictionary meaning. There was such a right and this is a historical fact easily born by ample evidence. Some people, even then, thought that this right was wrong. But the right existed.
I believe here's where you're getting hung up with the original poster: That just because society or the government says something is right, does not make it so. There are differences between moral rights and legal rights. The ability to own slaves was a legal right, not a moral right. They may have claimed it was a moral right, but as the original poster said, whenever two people disagree on a moral right, one of them is wrong.
You know.. the only times I have ever heard the phrase "information wants to be free" are trolls going overboard on the anti-copyright rant, and people deriding the phrase. I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone use that phrase who actually supports it.
Real elves? This might have larger ramifications than just the movie...
Braga and Berman rejected that idea because it had the potential to be good.
I'm sortof glad they did. I'd hate to see them destroy Sulu's character as so many others have been through the series'.
