    Reason #5: Or compiler

Actually, Vista will ship with a compiler. Since the .NET runtime comes pre-installed, and VB.NET and C# compilers are installed as part of the .NET runtime, you can build .NET apps from a clean install of Vista. Now, you may not like .NET, and that's fine, but there is a compiler that ships with Vista.

Any paladins out there see improvements that would make it worth coming back?

The two improvements that help the most in this reguard are Righteous Defense (use it on a player, any mobs attacking them will attack you instead), and the base, passive ability where you get mana back when healed (can't recall the name offhand). Plus there are some very nice additions to the Protection talent tree.

I've been a Paladin tank for the last year or so, and was recently considering changing, due to the fact that when raiding I rarely get to tank (it does come in handy sometimes, though). Given these changes, I'm definitely going to stick it out as a Tankadin until the expansion hits.

As typical, every class thinks every other class got a better deal, but the Pallies get to mean it ;)

While that was said in jest, I would actually say that Paladin's didn't get a raw deal this time. Not only can we be viable tanks, but also a lot of the improvments focus on Paldins being in the thick of things, going melee on mobs, instead of standing in the back and healing. That's a definite improvement in my book.
  5. Re:Why Are People Still Playing WoW? on Official WoW Expansion Talent Information · · Score: 1

I can't really say about the raiding (I'm enjoying it, for now at least), but the latest patch did improve the battlegrounds a bit, now that you can be matched up with players on servers other than your own. Generally, it's only a 15 minute wate for Warsong Gultch or Arathi Basin, and 45-60 minutes for Alterac Valley (it'll be interesting to see how the Honor Bonus this weekend will affect these times). Granted, those times still aren't great, but they are much better than the 30-45 minute waits for WSG and AB, and 1-2+ hours for AV on any typical day.

I would agree with that. However I would never use the words "SourceSafe" and "enterprise" in the same sentence. The only reason SourceSafe is used as much as it is is because it's included with Visual Studio, making it cheaper than the other options out there (excluding CVS, Subversion, etc...but let's not go there).

Originally, yes, Vista did start out as a complete/large rewrite of the OS. However, back in 2004 (I think), they saw that it just wasn't working out, scrapped that, and started over with either XP SP2 or 2003 SP1 as base (I can't recall which off hand).

That's why the original Longhorn build released at PDC2003 looks very different from the builds released a year later and onwards.

For me, it's the exact opposite. If I'm using Windows and something goes wrong, there are only a few things for me to check in order to fix the problem. In Linux, I generally don't have any idea what the problem could be, because I just haven't used it as much as Windows.

The reason for this for me is the exact opposite - I've used Windows for a long time, and I just don't have all that much experience with Linux. Believe me, I've tried using Linux multiple times, and each time I end up back on Windows. Why? Because, for me, Windows just works better. Maybe this is because I'm more familar with it, I don't know. Just like you said, though, "Don't fix what isn't broken".
