In the Tribe prereleases, basic visual effects are enabled by default on supported hardware, and more sophisticated visual effects--like wobbling windows--can be enabled with a configuration utility. Ya see that? "on supported hardware", it means it won't break X on unsupported hardware. don't think Ubuntu developers are dumb enough by force enabling it all the time.
I've just tested my 7200.10 320GB 3.AAK drive using hdparm -t/dev/sda1, and it gives me 71.77MB/s read rate. Isn't this about the same as one of the 3.AAE drives tested above?
Security in Vista is an ugly mimic of the Security in *nix system. It is so ugly that it often backfires: People are getting used to click "Yes!" every time when they do anything, so even if a webpage popups a windows saying you have to download an executable to continue, those "trained" people will click on "Yes" without even thinking. That's the root of all evil.
I've been using Windows since 1995, from Windows 3.0 to Windows Vista I haven't missed a chance to use anyone of them. 2 Years ago before I actually used Linux everyday, I was just like you. I even wrote articles in my blog bashing those *nix nerds, telling them to open theirs eyes, Microsoft is the future.
Now you know what? After I got to know things about Linux, the tools, backgrounds, standards and started using it for some time, I switched entirely to Linux camp. Not because I hate Microsoft from the bottom of my heart but because I, sincerely see Linux is a better OS.
Probably people like you would love to continue to take the blue pill and live in the dream, but if you can invest a little time in finding out those ISO standard lock-ins, or at least try an alternative way to get things done, you would have a different voice I bet.
I knew sooner or later this was going to happen, not to mention how many times I've been pissed off about Vista's WGA, I changed a video card and vola! Not genuine anymore... But anyway that was long time ago and now I'm trying to be M$ Free just like I'm trying to be GE-Free, Drug-Free, or woteva Bad-Baddies-Free.
Those company stuff should be ashamed of removing wikipedia articles. BTW. If I every encountered anyone publishing about him/herself on wikipedia, I will personally contact him and keep him/her busy....:-P
It bugs me a lot when people can't even remember/recall 1 digit multiplication...
To phone numbers and birthdays, of course we can look it up in whatever external storage, but what if we forget the name of the friend?! Would there be one day that we relies so heavy on external storage that we forget who we are?!
I'm not that old, only 23 though
Here's a theory, young memory, when properly trained, can positively affect the future development. When we are in primary school or junior school, we remember stuff not all because they will be useful, but because it helps us to train our mind to remember thing better when needed. If even this basic mind exercise will not be done properly in the future, I don't know what the next generations are capable of anymore...
sounds like 'bang my woman!' for me... oh wait
I guess your question would have been "will it big enough to fit Windows?"
Al'ight... Just let him implement the "partylikeword95" tag stuff in the Linux clone of OOXML and we will be happy!
Bloat-Free? there'r many the word 'bloat' instantly reminds me Vista...
Well, except those ones live themselves in hell...
You know why Windows is shitty yet still dominating? People like you helped A LOT.

Disabled UAC? Still feels good? God bless you!

Isn't that what makes your films exposed? oh wait...
Otherwise it might be a good place (or not?) to do some hacking things...
"A pro/anti-MS ass.....", ha, nice try
