Death. That is a fitting punishment. But in case you didn't know, death penalty is somewhat against United Nations declaration of human rights. Not that US of A really cares.
Seven years is just for the things he did? No really do you think that? And what if all the minor things you, me or anyone has ever done were punished by a prison sentence, would that be just too?
Where I come from seven years is pretty long sentence, and I truly believe that american prison system makes more ex-convicts into criminals than anything else.
Seven years is a pretty long time, and if you have way to get a proper life after that, it is a really harsh punishment for spam-fraud-thingie. --

So basically you are saying that if you don't like what one corporation is doing. Buy some of their stock. You won't be able to buy any significant amount, unless you are filthy rich, so with that little amount of stock you will have your voice heard.
Yeah right, and pigs might fly too.
I think the more appropriate and convincing way is to lobby against and boycott the unethical corporations. --

In some countries the GSM Air interface is encrypted, and quite hard to capture. But someone willing to go lengths to get / trace the calls you made. It is quite easy, as you only have to gain access to the operators switching centre.
I believe that all telcos are bound to provide government agencies the services they need for eavesdropping. Hopefully that eavesdropping happens within the boundaries of law, but I am afraid that in some cases it doesn't.
Sometimes I've had scratches on heavily used CD's. It is nice that I can get the song on CD in some other format, and make another CD, without having to buy a new one.
Now that must be legit, because I own an CD with that specific song.
Another good, though not legit use is to find rare versions or songs. This is not encouraged though! --

So. I can't install linux on my home machine. And yes, I've tried various distributions with various (2.2+) kernels. So I have screwed up. Or could it be that something is wrong with my hardware. Never mind that my machine runs Win2K beautifully? It seems to be a memory problem, but various tests indicated (MemTest 86) that there is nothing wrong with the memory. It also could be the maxtor harddrive, I may never know. So no Linux on my home machine. And what the heck, I use my home machine only for games.
And having tried to install Redhat 6.2 (and 7.0) on a work machine. Neither of the installs did succeed. No one I knew could figure what went wrong. But the routing (kernels IP routing) just went trought the roof.
Yet I succeeded in installing SuSE 6.4, and it worked. I finally changed SuSE to Debian and it's apt-get delicacies.
Think about FUD, because not everything that goes against some things you hear or believe is FUD. Some things just break mysteriously on various places.
OB-Topic: I just can't wait for decent journalling filesystem in kernel. The LVM is already being shipped in Debian... --

Gauss' law is a bit harder concept than directories. And it really helps to know the difference between files and directories. If you e.g. can manage directories you can create a file system hierarcy, which helps you when you store a lot of different kinds of information.

Usually someone has copyright on the data that people distribute on any file sharing system. I don't think copyrights just vanish. Do you? -- when everyone gives everything,
SMS's travel on signalling channel, and afaik the signalling isn't really encrypted. However it is much easier to collect all the SMS's from SMS-Centre, than to listen to radio interface and to try to intercept those messages.
I wouldn't be surprised if there were a system to decipher encrypted GSM Air interface. Not that it would be worthwhile for anyone except spies, private eyes and largish unnamed organizations
Uhmn. Theory that works in theory? Or was I just reading something else instead of your response? I mean communism can be understood as a theory, yes? And maybe even censorship can have a theory of it's own, who knows? But the implementation of censorship doesn't work right. There is always a notion that shouldn't be censored. Usually the censors can't take irony, puns, etc. I am totally against censorship. But I tend to think that there is a connection between media violence and street violence -- when everyone gives everything,
But they would like you to believe that overclocking is illegal. Just as you shouldn't be hassling with those MP3s that don't have proper copyprotection scheme.
As if CDs had a proper copyprotection scheme, and even if they did, wouldn't hold.
[I think they actually have one] -- when everyone gives everything,
You don't have to release your software as GPL. Hey, choose a license that suits you better.
But, I really think that GPL is good, as you have to release any/all modifications to GPL code. On BSD world this could lead to forking between different software companies.
>It's all B.S. Face it, NT outperforms Linux on a PERFORMANCE basis. That is, when you're not including the cost of the system. Yeah. But tweaking an NT 4.0 Server box into full pitbull is quite hard. One of my co-workers showed me a manual, they have done over here. It is quite large, over 200 pages on Service Pack 5 tweaks. And NT 4.0 Doesn't really work as well on Regular Pentium III / 450 + Single 100Mbit ether. Not at least, if you have Domino. -- when everyone gives everything,
They shouldn't never ever have allowed CSS to be implemented in software. As more 'hobbyists' can reverse-engineer software.
But anyway, breaking such an encryption scheme as DVD-Consortium was just a matter of time. Maybe next version of DVD, if there ever will be one will be 128 bits, based on some standard.
