I think this is a smart way to make sure the game will really sell. I mean, how many ppl didn't start out with the PC/DOS just because of Wolf3d and Doom? I still remember the first time I saw Doom, I was just standing there with my jaw at my knees, and that was on a 486 DX2 50 MHZ, with just internal speaker. Later I played it at a friends house on a 486 DX2 66 MHZ with a (new) soundblaster (no, not 16...:) and I was floored once again.
So, how many games will ID sell just to nostalgic 25 - 30 year old kids like me? Smartest market plan in years.
Well, my opinion is that D1&2 was entertaining mostly in singleplayer mode, but pretty kool in multiplayer too.
Q1 on the other hand was boring as #### as a singleplayer, but the multiplayer game.
Q2 was a nice single player game, better than Q1, more sneaking and strategies. But the multiplayer mode was way too slow.
Q3 is, well, kinda funny both in singel and multiplayer, but Q2 had better single player and Q1 better multiplayer, so... But, of course, the gfx was better in Q3. But that alone can't save a game. (Just look at Unreal(w.o. tournament;)).
I think D3 will really kick ass, remember those fireball throwers, or the flying cyclope heads? Hehehe... By the way, when will we see Wolfenstein2?:)
No, gimme Bubble bobble as a 1:st person shooter! Or commando, with Rob Hubbard music.:)
Well, that's probably the biggest problem with amiga. When you mention it everyone goes "Oh that old gaming machin with all the cool games", referring to old A500's...
Not so many have seen what can (well could) actually be done with a expanded A4000. As late(?) as 1995 there was, for example, nothing that could beat an A4000 with sunrize studio as a digital audio recorder, for midi and video. Not at a reasonable price for use at home, anyway.
The whole point of the concept, correct me if I'm wrong, is that we get a fast multiplatform OE, something like what JAVA once was supposed to be.
My objection then is, that every layer that you apply (OS/OE) is going to slow down the running task (program). That was probably Javas biggest flaw, the lack of speed.
Amiga says their VP-translator is much faster, and will be able to run almost as fast as a native OS app.
I for one find that pretty hard to believe, but if they succed, boy do we have a winner here...:)
Well, I don't know if I can agree that it's the best 3D-package, in terms of modelling and animation and such (I can be wrong though, been a couple of years since I used it). But I remember they had a very nice rendering engine.
Those really were the days... Running REAL3D 1.4 on my old Amiga 500 (1 MB chipRAM)... Rendering a raytraced ball of glass in about 8 hours in 4096 colours HAM-mode. Hehehe...
I also remember my disappointment when I tried 3DS4 (and MAX1.1) and realized that they had no option of true raytracing at all. No more cool objects made out of glass.
Well, maybe REAL3D running linux would be worth a "real" post to/.?
Well, yeah, I see your point now. And I can agree to some extent, even if I find your way of seeing things a bit cynical.
My point on the other hand, was basically that I'm against inflicting pain on other living creatures, if there are ways to avoid doing so. Even if they are going to die anyway in a few minutes.
The exception is the dog you mentioned earlier. Beat it anyway. I don't like dogs.;)
If survival is the only thing that matters and pain doesn't, then I can't see why a child not playing with matches or a dog attacking someone is any different from causing pain to animals in a slaughterhouse, as long as the child/dog doesn't kill anyone. According to your statements those first mentioned things was good and bad for no more reasons than the case with suffering animals.
Well, I agree that 36p BLINK sucks, but I don't think that bad taste is all age-related... I have seen many personal pages of middle aged ppl with the same 36p BLINK text and background colour that is as pink as salmon.
Er... On the other hand I haven't seen any well designed pages made by a 13 year old...;)
Now I can finally get my IR & UV - vision... Fully possible as soon as they have refined the technology a "little"...;)
X-ray might be a little more difficult... Then you would have to bring an emitter or something like that... And I don't think ppl would enjoy you radiating them all over...
I read about something similar to this a year or so ago, there was this totally blind guy who had some kind of camera implant, that made it possible for him to at least tell the difference between light/dark...
According to him it was a great improvement, I dunno, never been blind, but sounds reasonable.
In that case a 60 x 60 resolution would probably be heaven for these poor ppl...
but most of us will admit that Mac ports have been of secondary concern for most of the top games and companies for the past few years.
;-)
Well, that's what you'll get when you use a computer with a mouse with only one button...

Yes, of course you're right, Falcon was way ahead of Amiga in the MIDI/HD-recording/Music business. I don't remember the price though.
We used the amiga for HD recording of audio, syncronized via SMTPE to record soundtracks for video. In that area it was pretty outstanding.

Or start submitting OS/2 stories. (If you can find any?)
:)
Actually slashdot supports two different "slashboxes" about OS/2. Maybe "the red pen" missed them.
So? Where are the OS/2 stories then?
Grow up.
Yes, you're flamebait was a model of maturity.
Maybe... Even slightly more than... Your header?
Have a nice day mr AC!

Preferences/User info/Exclude Stories from the Homepage/[x]Amiga
...might be a good choice then. I, for one, enjoy these amiga stories, even though I haven't used an amiga for two years...

If you too read the article you might learn that there may be no need to win anyone "back". Go figure.

We are not talking the same old amiga concept any more... Read the article before posting goddamnit!
Too bad I'm out of modpoints right now...

You pretty much described why I use eudora. Because 95% of the world is not using it, it doesn't get the same attention from evil haxxors...
And it's a pretty good client too.

My thought is that pain is bad unless you like/want it, and most people and animals don't.
--
"I'm surfin the dead zone
Well... My opinion is the direct opposite.
It doesn't matter if you kill the animals, as they probably don't even know what is happening.
The only thing that matters is that you don't cause them any unnecessary suffering.

"I'm surfin the dead zone
