    Interesting. You also provoked another question. Your, Java example, would that suggest that maybe competition was at a local level and not a world-wide phenomenon?

    Africa, being as big as it is, probably saw wide-spread competition whereas isolated areas of the world may have had apes and H. erectus co-existing if not living with each other.

    Just because something hasn't been seen before, doesn't mean that it can't exist. Isn't science not about what we already think but learning what could be? It seems that there are many theories out there that get proven wrong every day and there seems to be a lot of hoopla whenever someone is proven wrong. Scientists should keep an open mind instead of becoming entrenched in theoretical zealotry.

    None. But I wouldn't sacrifice nearly all usability and control over the OS in the name of security. The fact that I can delete the Recycle Bin and get it to consistently throw the BSOD just by plugging in my digital camera and the fact that Vista takes the admin's right to admin away, really puts a sour taste in my mouth.

    All I hear is whining out of people about this topic. If they really want to learn Linux, they should install it themselves. These people really need to know what a bitch it is to find Linux drivers for some devices instead of having it all done for them. Especially new hardware!

    Really I see these Ubuntu boxes as nothing more than Windoze boxes only this time the re-load disk is something other than Winblows.

    It doesn't matter where you work or what the demographics are, someone will always try to make themselves a victim: wanting a hand-out. And what's sad is that some companies actually give-in to this kind of behavior out of fear of legal action.

    I applaud women and other diversity in I.T. The diversity brings a different perspective to the table that can benefit everyone. It's just those who abuse the HR laws in this country (victims) that I have a beef with.
