The only solution is to refuse to buy any music DRM protected.

Customer service goes down the shitter and oh yes, add the lovely outsourcing crap as well. Give me a break! These fucking American companies need to hire American workers and sell to American people at reasonable prices and give us the best treatment in the world; not this half-assed crap they pull right now!

One can't believe any of the crap they spew from their rectal orifice. They are bought off by the recording industry!

Heston will be missed. He was one of the Hollywood greats.

Yeah, all these 30+ year-old people with their beliefs in restrictions and censorship really scare me. The Internet is for the young. Teens and 20-somethings should be the ones running things since they are almost always anti-censorship. Older people are just too xenophobic to be trusted to maintain an open medium.

I actually admire anyone who can use Linux, especially at age seven! She seems like a genius if she can do that! If the girl is able to maintain her computer and care for it properly, there's no reason for her parents to care what she does. I think she has displayed great presence of mind and is aware of the dangers of the online world. The parents should trust her to use her computer properly. I don't admire authoritarian parents who think they own the kid and everything he/she owns. Yes, they're responsible and have the right to spank if a kid acts up. But how would you feel if someone could read your every email, IM and text message? Would you want that done to you? Parents, please treat your kids the way you would want them to treat you if the positions were reversed, because there will come a time when they will be.

Props to the people of Canada for standing up for your online rights! If only Americans had done this ten year ago with the DMCA.

If the FCC is able to do this, how long before they have the power to regulate cable TV content as they do with broadcast TV? Will no medium be safe from the government's intrusion?

  12. The Internet is our playground! on MA Proposes Two Year Jail Term for Online Gambling · · Score: 1

People should have the right to gamble online if they want to. What authority does government have to tell us what to do online? As long as we're not harming others, they should leave us alone.

  13. My wishes on Microsoft Windows 7 "Wishlist" Leaked · · Score: 0

Get rid of all the clutter and all the crap that runs as services. Definitely make users admin by default again. Being limited by default is stupid. Make controls and settings easier to find instead of harder. Bring back the disk defragmenter animation. I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoyed watching the progress. Include a nice, streamlined security suite that can be easily disabled in case people want to use third party software. Strip out DRM. Make system crash messages actually make sense! Give Windows Update the ability to scan third party sites for updated drivers and new versions of installed programs. That's all I can think of.

  14. Civil War II? on NH Signs Bill That Rejects Federal Real ID · · Score: 1

If enough states oppose this and refuse to implement it, the federal government will have no choice but to back down. They can't afford to piss everyone off! If it ends up split down the middle, we might see states secede from the union. Would this lead to a second civil war since it's illegal for states to secede? There are already two Americas now. Perhaps this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
