Do you live on a PUBLIC street? Isn't your address publicly available?
WTF if the difference? If I have not advertised my service as a public service, then keep the hell out. Just because I have an IP address and you have a route there does not make my machine a public resource.
Yes, I may want to secure my machine, but my lack of security does not make a script kiddies exploits any less wrong.
Well, yeah. If you break a law there is a penalty. If I steal your car and get caught do I I just give it back and go home? No.
If you could just remove offending software, why would anyone ever buy it when they could just "use it till we get caught". Of course you have to pay for licenses, you have used the software illegally for x days/months/years.
According to the majority of the slashdot community, if I download metallica's latest single I am not "stealing" anything because everyone still has their copy. The how would MS or any other company be able to "steal" GPL'd code. It is still out there for everyone to use.
Well, here's an idea, we could start by not calling people with a different viewpoint "the uneducated ones". Talking down to someone is not the best way to sway them to your side.
From what I see, Anonymous posted something about a previous employer. Previous employer tracks what previous employers say about them (which I see nothing wrong about). Then, "I've been told that they may speak to me, and may also talk to the company I currently work for". Being cynical, I ask "By who?". We don't know that the company told him this, and even if they did, so what? If he is worried about his new company finding out what you said, posting it on a public board was pretty silly.
Everyone likes to jump to conclusions and imagine that big bad company is trying to blackball him out of the industry, but I see nothing to support this. As far as we know, the company has found out that they can just use paranoid employees and ex-employees to do something they know they could never do themselves.
So, as usual, we have several people trying to beat the world record for the long jump (to conclusions)
I think you typo'd
You meant "It seems like only Apple is actually interested in it's users' _money_."
grip will do mp3 or ogg, give it a look
What part of "tried to" are you having problems with exactly?
Awesome! You don't know how long I've been waiting for a wombat and potatoe flick.

By "a real president right now", do you mean a perjuring aldulterer who debates the definition of "is"?

OK, now I'm getting real confused.

Please, at least be consistent.

Just to answer your question, Yes. That big screen TV does make me happy.
I enjoy it. I enjoy watching DVD's on it while snuggled up with my wife. I enjoy watching my local dysfunctional sports franchise on it.
Maybe, if my life sucked it wouldn't make me happy, but it does add some happiness, or maybe pleasure is the correct term.
You obviously know different "average" computer users than I do!
How could you possibly leave out games? I would put it in this order:
1) Email - #1 by a huge margin
2) Games
3) Web
4) Music - not really, but you had it in your list. I'll stick with my stereos (home and car)

Or, I might be on crack.
