Doesn't the GPL license allow one to fork open source code, develop your own features and make them closed source?
I mean... could I have simply developed my own MySQL "advanced features", not share the code with anyone and sell the features as MySQL-myedition? Why is it any different for Sun?
In the ancient days, when anyone wanted to know where the best restaurant in town was, they'd ask the guy on the street. Along came the great uniter of minds, and people could find what they wanted by asking the whole world for it. But now, we think asking the whole world is not good enough... so we go back to the guy on the street (who's probably renamed himself to "StreetSearcher" now).
I agree. The last 3 apartments/houses I've lived in, my neighbors didn't really mind me using their internet (I usually let them know if I've been using it for more than a month). Most people use the internet just to check mail and browse the web, so they didn't care if I used some of their bandwidth. And for people like me who have a gypsy-like tendency to change homes every few months, its very convenient to find the neighbor's wireless unlocked:).
But whenever someone brakes the 3-car-space decreases (I assume) to a 2-car or 1-car space. Shouldn't this extra space compensate for the slowdown, so that the cars at the back don't have to overcorrect?
Given a smoothly flowing, full capacity freeway (as in everyone's going at 70mph and there's a max of 3-car spacing)... I've always wondered how it's possible for a slowdown "shockwave" to ripple back and cause traffic to come to a complete stop. I mean, if the traffic in front doesn't stop, why should the traffic at the back do?! Does anyone know?
A lot of computers might be running pirated versions of XP, which could have made it difficult to get the latest patches.

... venus added Uranus as a friend on its My Space profile.

Time to convert all their deLoreans... um... space shuttles, to use Mr. Fusion - http://news.uns.purdue.edu/x/2007a/070201LadischBio.html

>> Every time you touch your brake for any reason, God kills a kitten
There... that should have the right effect.

Hmm... that's almost like saying "If you don't want people taking your money, do not put it in a bank".
FYI, there is a way to search InnoDB tables - Sphinx Search, and it's pretty fast too.
